If you’re looking to adopt a senior kitty, who loves to chat, follows you, joins you everytime you take a seat or a nap, then I have the guy for you!

Walter has earned a very special place in my heart. He showed up at a woman’s house for about a week and a half, and Walter kept attempting to go inside. The finders were unable to bring him in. So Walter made his way to us! And I’m so glad he did!

Walter gets to roam the rescue freely often. He is always napping or relaxing on the rug when I am busy doing chores. But if I walk through, he follows me to every area/floor. If he loses sight of me downstairs he will call out for reassurance!

He’s truly a special guy. I came to sit on my tablet and Walter immediately joined beside me on the bench so I moved over to the comfy chair and I didn’t even finish covering my legs with the blanket before he made himself comfortable!

Now Walter does appear to likely need dental work & still needs some standard vetting since he didn’t come with any information. We do think he’s neutered previously.

I would love to get Walter out of a kennel and into a home as early as possible.

He’s almost finished with his deworming protocol.

If someone wanted to foster / foster-to-adopt / adopt this sweet man, don’t hesitate!

He does good with being picked up, nail trims, other cats.

Walter is not going to grow older in a cage. We can’t let that happen. Let’s give him a real shot at a second life!

But in the mean time, I will give him lots of cuddles & love. He’s finally safe from that horrible time he spent outdoors. It’s a miracle he even survived outside as long as he did.

Large cat colony had a recent litter of kittens who were not doing so well. We went to the property based on reports of a kitty with an eyeball issue. And noticed that there were multiple sick kittens as well, so we were able to scoop up the sick kitties we seen on the property.

And with Ashley’s amazing help fostering the last couple days, they are all still with us. And seem to be improving a little each day.

We expect around $500 give or take for their medical care.

And huge thank you to Ashley & Leanne for helping coordinate & care for these beans.

Penny is definitely a fighter and has a strong will to stay with us so we’re going to do everything we can to make that happen!

I seen this post in a kitty group. And I want to share some education.

Cats who have lived indoors their entire lives, do not have the skills or ability to survive outside.

The longer a cat spends indoors, relying on humans as caretakers, means they lose their ability to naturally survive in the wild.

Think about it. They’ve had their food supplied to them. Their bathroom is regularly cleaned. They have toys and comfy beds. They have companionship with their favorite humans who would do anything for them.

Indoors they spend their days napping on a comfy bed until their internal clock tells them it’s time for dinner. Then they casually wait and follow you to the food bowl. They eat the food and then they go take a nap.

This means their natural ability to hunt, avoid predators, avoid vehicles, find food, form a healthy safe colony, find shelter, live amongst wildlife, have all been removed from their lifestyles.

So placing an indoor only cat as an outdoor only cat, you can expect a range of issues.

They will likely be skinny and starving.

They will likely be extremely dirty. Especially medium & long hair cats.

They will be covered in fleas, ticks, and who knows what else.

They will be completely terrified & may hunker down for a while or wander until they’ve traveled too far and end up lost.

Lost = death sentence

Inability to hunt = death sentence

In short terms, if you put it in a way for humans to truly understand psychologically.

Humans develop a sense of street smarts when they’re forced or experienced street life long-term.

So people who have never had to live a life on or in the streets has no sense of ability to survive. They’re terrified in that predicament. They don’t know how to find food, shelter, and they may end up making bad decisions that get them hurt.

It’s the same way for cats.

Cats should never be tossed outside, relocated, moved, when they are indoor only cats.

Cats who are outside and have lived outside most of their life CAN be relocated to a new space with a PROPER PROTOCOL.

Relocating even a truly feral cat can have dire consequences because even if that cat has skills, they survived in their territory where they are familiar with and know where shelter, food, and safety is.

A feral relocated with no sense of familiarity is sadly often a death sentence.

Feral cats need two things. To have lived outside previously, and either a familiar territory or a very proper relocation protocol.

It’s never guaranteed the relocation protocol works, but having a group of cats at the same time makes the chances better that they will survive at the very least if they leave, and aren’t alone.

Humans can not solve inconvenient issues with randomly relocating cats. You are doing the exact same thing as slowly killing them yourself. Except out of sight, out of mind. And that doesn’t make you a better person.

It’s cruel outside. For humans and for pets.

Another large colony with very clear suffering.

Tonight was an interesting evening. Leanne & her boyfriend + me all went to check out a colony where there was a report of a kitty with an eye ball issue.

Upon visiting the colony we found a deceased cat, MULTIPLE critically sick kittens, and I’m told at least 20+ more who strangely look very healthy aside from the mom of the critically ill kittens, who has an injured front paw.

We found one kitten with an eye rupture but we’re unsure if there’s only one or if there were two.

I was able to sneak up behind & Nab the eye kitty while he stopped for a drink of water.

The other two were presenting with upper respiratory symptoms and in major need of antibiotics.

We only planned to grab the urgent kitty, but after finding one who passed already, it was clear these sick kittens were heading for the same fate without intervention.

Just these last 2 weeks we have been hit very hard with these serious & urgent cases back to back to back.

Bon was abandoned on a highway.

Dilly was abandoned at Dairy Queen.

Bart is being monitored very closely.

Walter is an old sweet man who wants nothing more than human affection & had no business being stuck outside.

Oakley passed away & we need to finish this colony to prevent more kitten suffering. Thankfully his mom, our second generation dumpster kitten mother, has been fixed this week!

Oakleys two siblings still battling uri symptoms.

The family of free kittens who would have passed without the timely medical intervention we provided.

We tried to triage two critically ill kittens this morning that a foster managed to grab from a “free kitten” person.

These cases require clavamox, azithro, Terramycin, tobramycin, b12 shots, fluids, appetite stimulants, wate powder, high calorie liquid, vitamin supplements, cat rebound, multiple other supplements, so so so many syringes, and needles, thermometer covers & thermometers. Tick removers. Bath supplies.

We are running out of our supplements to care for sick/critical/unwell cats. And we have a few thousand in non standard vet care I’m expecting & there are often surprises we are not expecting when it comes to inbreeding, lack of care, unhealthy colonies, & outdoor abandoned kitties

We are running out of basic supplies like sandwhich baggies, syringes, paper towels, trash bags, nitrel gloves, paper boats, laundry detergent, gentle purina dry food, kitten pate and adult pate wet food, dish soap, bleach.

I am updating our wishlists with our most urgent needs but we are seriously running out of everything.

We just got updates for chilli & Cori! These were two long term kiddos we adopted out the end of last year.

They spent a whole year in the playroom waiting for the right home, and this man knew they were perfect even though they were both shy.

They are siblings & I am so happy to get this update!

Yesterday we said goodbye to one of our dumpster kittens. Even though he only spent 5 days with us, I had visited the trapping site almost every day monitoring this colony and this litter.

They lived in a spot that wasn’t possible to breach so I had to wait until they were big enough to come out on their own.

As soon as they were seen coming out, we set traps up for the 3 kiddos and momma.

We left them zip tied for a few days and finally seen everyone entering them, so we set the traps.

We caught the entire family in one day! But mom was a flight risk every time we opened the door and the kittens stayed under her and everyone was too spicy to intake the kittens.

So i separated them from mom. Sadly everyone was still too spicy and very violent, except for little Oakley. All 3 kittens had a uri, but Oakley was the only one I could medicate at first.

Oakley was instantly the only friendly and chill kitten but he was active, eating, playing, & visually appeared well.

Yesterday I noticed he was just laying in a weird position and when I picked him up, he was limp.

He would randomly get up and try to drink or eat and then fall limp again.

We did the entire emergency protocol I always do for kittens. But nothing worked. His internal temp kept falling lower and lower and once it hits 96 degrees their organs start to fail. He was suffering.

Thankfully suburban was willing and able to see him right before close and they agreed he was suffering.

So baby Oakley was euthanized. And it’s a reminder that this can happen at any time in rescue. We don’t know why most of the time.

But I had my suspicions because an un-fixed colony should have hundreds of cats if it’s been 5 years. They only had around 15 cats. So my gut was telling me this happens often. And as soon as I seen the kittens appeared sick with a uri , we jumped into action to secure them.

Now we watch the other two siblings like a hawk and pray this doesn’t happen to them. They appear to be feeling well because they’re very spicy 😂 but they do trust us a little more each day.

I’ve been pushing the syringe of antibiotics up to their mouth and when they hiss I push it in. But I think they’re catching on to my methods😂

Rip Oakley. I’m so glad you were indoors and oh so loved when you passed. I will miss you buddy🖤

Here is our estimate for our sweet Baby Bart, our in**ed disabled boy who doesn’t let anything stop him!

BART’s litter mates were born with a few of them having the same issues, and a few being “normal” externally.

However, Bart is the sole surviving kitten. And we are doing everything in our power to ensure he lives as long & as happy as possible, but we need your help!

Bart’s momma kitty mated with her brother, therefor Barts disabled back legs are a result of feline inbreeding.

Bart is THE single most happy, loving, playful little boy. He loves just sitting on your chest and staring at the volunteers🥹 he loves being held, carried, and played with!

He loves playing with his stuffies - his favorites are the sheep & big banana!

BART goes crazy for wet food with lots of liquid/gravy. So we give him as much as he will eat, in addition to all the health supplements we have on hand, which we are running out of! Lol

We are trying really hard to get baby Bart up to a more healthy weight.

He does not act like he is any different. His body does not stop him. He plays, loves, chases just like all of our other kittens.

Bart is so loved & his amazing foster did her best to get Bart the help he needed. We were not open for intakes at the time of the request, but we knew we had to help him.

BART literally makes all the volunteers smile. He’s so happy & peaceful just existing next to his favorite stuffies.

BART deserves a life of comfort, a life without pain, without limitations.

BART has a callous on his leg from his back end dragging across the floor as he walks. This will eventually result in tissue decay & potentially bone exposure from the skin wearing away.

His other back leg is also wonky, but doesn’t appear to hinder him in any way at this time.

We would love to get Bart big & strong, have this surgery, and continue being the sweet, strong, amazing boy who doesn’t let anything stop him!

We know he will have a higher quality of life, being the resilient sweet boy he is, if he doesn’t have to drag this bag leg for the rest of his life.

This is the quote we received & given barts history and risk, we would like to have this surgery done in this setting.

I know this surgery could be more affordable elsewhere, but I’d truly feel better having Bart monitored closely. Bart did not ask for this. Bart doesn’t ask for anything other than cuddles!

Our goal is to get him big & strong for surgery, and raise the funding to cover this surgery at this vet.

And we are confident that Bart will win over the right adopter when he’s recovered, healthy & cleared for adoption, just like he won over every human who has met him so far!
