With season approaching take a second to make sure you are prepared when caping out your buck this season. In order for me to have enough cape this diagram shows the exact cuts needed to ensure enough cape is available for a shoulder mount.
The area to steer clear of is the brisket area! The sternum is your stopping point when field dressing your buck.
I measure the cape after it has been tanned so there is no need for an excessive amount of neck meat left on the head. You can cut the neck as close to the skull as possible.
Any sewing needed from improper skinning will be charged at $50 an hour.
Any questions during the caping process feel free to give me a call!
Picture is not mine just used for reference.
