We stopped in at a womans property I've known since i was a little girl yesterday after work and I had to show some of the fun things she had. This lady has no clue about any special breeds or feather typs like frizzle or molted. She's an old timer and I say that lightly, she doesn't care about a dirty egg, what color egg a hen lays or to many roosters. She doesn't breed for the birds physical traits or the egg color, she breeds them to put food in her family, and the community around hers homes.

We need help identifying this handsome boy. We don't work with alot of bantams we just have them in our free range flock...

He came in a group of four from a assorted bantam bin at TS. His comb and wattles are so bright red he almost looks like another one of our "cartoon chickens" 😆.

HOLY WILDFLOWER 😍!!! (Gaillardia pulchella) - otherwise known as the Blanket flower, Indian blanket, or Firewheel. Native to Flordia, they are not a w**d, though many have the false impression they are. These love the dry sandy environments that consume most of our state, the mass majority of them are located in feilds as they prefer full sun. They're also great pollinators for our bug buddies 🐝🦋.

Some may love them, others may hate them. We have been around them our whole lives and think these guys are like real-life cartoons with their tiny, fluffy bodies and iridescent rainbow chels. We honestly find it to be a blessing that we can be around what others have as pets naturally living their lives to the fullest here, while also playing a big role in our property's ecosystem. This pretty little momma has made the cutest nursery on one of our pink Crape Myrtles. Luckily for her she'll be left at peace to finish weaving her nest that she'll make into almost a thick cacoon within a few days with a small opening, have her babies and live on eating our stinkbugs, crickets, & flies 🥰🪰🦗.

One of our "Cypress Swamp Olive Eggers" as we say have been calling them until we settle on the best name has been showing out. Quite honestly, we're still in the very early stages of developing what we plan to be our showstopping green layers. We're highly selective about which birds will stay in our lines and which won't. We currently don't have any roosters in our olive pen, as we're solely focused on observing and obtaining a small group of unique layers to start working towards our goals. This gal was chosen out of a group of pullets, and we definitely aren't regretting our decision over here 😉.

Our clingy boy 💚. He's so smart he knows his nails don't hurt us though our jeans being he's been doing this since he was a kitten but he's aware he'll hurt us climbing our shirt so he's always so gentle 🥹. Y'all it's well overdue, we need a Cypress Swamp themed unique name for this special boy. As you can see he's a piece of the heart to our homestead so he deserves his moment too.

Crazy question of the night because i just thought about it a few hours ago and it's been driving me crazy since so i need answers. Has anyone ever cross bred a Cream Crested Legbar and Isabella Ameraucana? I've never herd of it or seen it, If so I need all the details 🙃. I feel like they would be crazy looking and their eggs would be beautiful! As for egg production, temperament, etc, I'm quite curious. I know if it could be done theres plenty with the results I just haven't been around enough to hear about it.
