Calling all hockey fans and dog lovers! 🐶❤️

Join the Flint Firebirds on Friday, November 6th at 7 PM for a fun-filled night of hockey benefiting the Humane Society of Genesee County, as we celebrate our 100th anniversary! 🎉

🐕 BRING YOUR DOG TO THE GAME FOR FREE by donating any of the following much-needed shelter supplies:

🧼 Cleaning/Laundry Supplies
🐶 Puppy/Dog Food
🐱 Kitten/Cat Food
🦴 Pet Toys

Donations must have a minimum retail value of $10. One dog ticket is allowed per paid adult.

🐾 Important: All dogs must be registered and have proof of up-to-date Rabies.

What could be better than watching some exciting hockey while spending time with your four-legged best friend AND helping homeless animals? ❤️

A huge thank you to the Flint Firebirds and everyone involved for supporting the animals in our care!

🐾💙 MEET MAX! YOUR FUTURE BEST FRIEND! 💙🐾

Can you resist this adorable face?! 😍

Meet Max, a handsome 2-month-old Cane Corso mix who is looking for his forever home! This sweet little guy is ready to find a family who will love him, teach him, and help him grow into the best dog he can be!

🐶 A Little About Max:
🐾 Age: 2 months old
🐾 Breed: Cane Corso Mix
🐾 Partially housetrained (he's still learning!)
🐾 Will be neutered before adoption
🐾 Adoption Fee: $200

🏡 PUPPY PROOFING YOUR HOME!

Before bringing home an adorable puppy like Max, it's important to make sure your home is safe for those curious little paws!

🐾 Hide electrical cords! Puppies love to chew, and cords can be dangerous.
🐾 Put away shoes and small objects! If it's within reach, chances are a puppy will try to chew it!
🐾 Keep medications, cleaning supplies, and toxic foods out of reach! Chocolate, grapes, raisins, and xylitol are especially dangerous for dogs.
🐾 Secure trash cans! Puppies are curious and love exploring things they shouldn't!
🐾 Provide plenty of safe chew toys! Puppies explore the world with their mouths, especially while teething.
🐾 Create a safe puppy space! A crate or puppy-proofed area can help keep your new family member safe when you can't supervise.

💙 FUN PUPPY FACTS!

🐶 Puppies need lots of sleep, sometimes 18–20 hours a day, to help their growing bodies and brains develop!
🐶 Puppies begin losing their baby teeth around 3–4 months old, so be prepared for some extra chewing!
🐶 Positive reinforcement, patience, and consistency are key to successful housetraining and obedience training.
🐶 Cane Corsos are known for being intelligent, loyal, and protective. Because Max is a Cane Corso mix, he may grow into a large, strong dog who will need continued training, exercise, and proper socialization.

❤️ Remember, puppies are a lifetime commitment! They require patience, training, veterinary care, and lots of love. Please research the breed and make sure you're prepared for all the responsibilities of raising a puppy.

We are about a week away from our 19th Annual Tricks for Treats!
This fun trick or treating event for dogs has previously been held at Key-Lore, but this year we are moving the fun to the shelter! That's right you can come right to HSGC and your dog can go trick or treating and participate in our costume contest. We will also have c***r and donuts for $1 each and there will be raffle baskets!
