Not For Sale

Tonight we had a litter I wasn't expecting for another few days but they came early. Seem to be strong though, so good chance they will be fine.

Dramatic Acres Sassafrass ( Tri-Roan Aby) has 3 cuties for me today. She will retire to pet after this litter.

Sire is a first timer, making his debut is Nepo Baby (Black Aby). He comes from a long line of Priceless Farm Abyssinian. He did a great job. He comes from Brindles too so it's nice to have Brindles to pick from. I go from no Brindles, to Brindles every where! I'm happy to have another Tri Roan as well.

Oakley - Tri Roan Abyssinian boar

Oobleck- Brindle Aby Boar, more red on face.

Ophelia - Brindle Aby sow.

NOT FOR SALE AT THIS TIME

I can't decide which to keep or to keep both, or none at all. I'm newer to Tans and Martens so I don't always make the best choice who to hold back. Maybe Tan friends be my critique on these two.

Priceless Farms Inkscue Me I'm Next AKA: Inkster is a Blk/Tan Tan Pattern American Sow. I like most what I see I'm not sure if she has enough pea spots though. She may be held back even if I don't do Blk/Tan or can move to someone's Tan Pattern Program.

Priceless Farms House of the Rising Sun AKA: Jacobi is a Lilac Marten American boar. I like his over all package. Though I think he has too much white on his face.

I'm happy to see I've climbed up a rank to 11 in the ACBA Sweepstakes for Abyssinian in the current August edition of the JACBA Magazine.

Many exhibitors/breeders will say it's not a true measure of worth for quality of animals. They are mostly right with the issue being, many top quality breeders don't subscribe to the sweepstakes. So we don't always have a credible view of ranking nationally. For me the sweepstakes isn't about bragging rights, it's more a show of how I'm doing as a breeder. Considering a lot of my animals are projects. I'm a person that can't stick to one variety well. I'm all over the board in breeds, varieties, and colors. So if I'm making enough points on my animals it's got to mean something, right?

When I began doing this at the ACBA level I really wasn't a fan of Abyssinian. I LOVED longhairs. When my daughter was gifted an Abyssinian many moons ago. I fell in love and I switched gears to focus on Aby.

Eventually trying a few fails and a few successes. Like Dalmatian Aby - fail, Tweed Aby- fail, Chocolate and Himi Aby - Fail and then eventually successful Cal Pattern, TSW, and Cream Self lines made from scratch using Americans. There were breeders out there working on those varieties as well ( few and VERY FAR between thanks to Lisa Pordon, Cindy Brock Altmann, Dana Kolstad, Carla Hintz, Vinny Vignuolo, Dawn Gallagher, Leanne Comstock, Debbie Spezia, Pam Roland and more) and I appreciated all their help getting my projects going with their stock as well.

So the sweepstakes represent my forward motion and that I'm not full of beans when I show my cavies. Now if I could get somewhere on the lists for American and Coronet would be nice. A Gal has to have goals.

Today our Magpie American, Feroxi went into labor. I had moved her from the woodshop to the house to be sure to help if she would need it. I really didn't think she was pregnant at first as her sides were so soft.
She was I guess. It was one of the biggest pups I've seen in a long time. It unfortunately didn't survive but it's nose touched my finger tips and it's butt was past my wrist. I didn't weigh it but I'm sure it was a monster. I waited a while but no second came and she seems absolutely fine. Settled down to eat and is comfortable.

We will try again later for some Magpies. The baby was a Dark Eye White Polydactyl sow.

NOT FOR SALE

Priceless Farms Designer is really coming along nicely in development. I love her markings so far. She of course has a lot to be desired in alignment and ridges. But this program is going the right direction. Her coat length is where I want it, and the head furnishings are drastically improving.

She will be moving to a program that has an established Abyssinian Cal Pattern going now.

NOT FOR SALE

Priceless Farms Ellie (TSW American) had her litter tonight while I cleaned their pen. She's an old pro, she literally laid on her side and pushed them two out almost one right after the other. Had them out and clean in under 25 minutes. She's one of our biggest pigs here. She's 3 pounds when not pregnant. She's from our Cuy lines.

Sire is Giddy Pigs Sir Oinks-alot (Red and White Broken American) Oinks has been doing great with helping on patching, but this TSW sow just didn't get enough red. I still like her "a-lot". Might have to keep her around.

Oaken - Red and White Broken American Boar

Omni- TSW American Sow.

Priceless Farms Primrose (Self Red Aby) had her first litter today. Success it looks like and better yet if my eyes don't deceive me, all girls! A rare find.

Sire is Chaotic Cavies Apple (Black Point Red Abyssinian). He has been doing great with dark reds lately. I'm impressed with the color on most of these girls and it looks like three may be Cal. Now watching the alignment!

Nachtmusik - Red Abyssinian sow
Namaste- Blk point Red Abyssinian sow
Na**lm- Red Aby sow
Naughty- Blk Point Red Aby sow
Neatnik- Blk Point Red Aby sow

NOT FOR SALE.

Priceless Farms Give It All Ya Got. Aka: Hercules. Is a Red and White Broken American boar. Going to keep him back and see how his ears develop. He has his dad's small ears, but I like the rest of him. May see a fall show table yet. He's going to be pretty big.
