The 2026 renewal of the National Open Walking Championship is officially in the books, and once again it proved why this event stands as the premier national walking championship in the country. From the depth of the field to the quality of the performances, this year’s championship showcased everything that makes our sport great.

Just want to wish Andrea Wood Ward a happy birthday! For all the long days on the road, chasing dogs on a horse when weather conditions are horrible and helping from sun up until sun down . Just know it doesn't go unnoticed. Thanks for all you do for me and our DCG family! Love you

The American Water Spaniel, native to the lake country of the upper Midwest, is an outdoors athlete who loves to hunt and swim. They are muscular midsize gundogs, with a luscious brown coat that is either tightly curled or wavy. Bred to work the icy waters and marshy banks of the Great Lakes region, these spaniels are ideally outfitted for the job: The coat is dense and waterproof, the feet are thickly padded, the toes are webbed, and the body is small enough for the dog to hop in and out of a skiff without rocking the boat. Bird work with some of the young dogs( and a few vetrans)today. They all are coming along despite 81 degrees and 87% humidity.
