Ella was a 5 year old beautiful Husky that never truly gave up her puppyhood. She loved her Mommy (Kayla Whitt) more than anything. Though her Mommy was her favorite human, her Gammie (Phyllis Whitt Wilkins) was a very close second. Ella had many “people cousins” (Hannah, Della, and Challie) who loved her snuggles and giggling with her through every episode of the zoomies.

Some of Ella’s favorite things in this world were “cheese treats,” long walkies by the water, and sweet snuggles while helping her Mommy catch up on her shows. Ella Grace was very serious about her snuggle quota for each and every day, all while leaving behind all her “fluff glitter” everywhere she went. No pair of black leggings was ever safe from Miss. Ella Grace.

Ella enjoyed making phone calls to her Gammie and having full conversations using the classic Husky howls and yodels, especially if she needed to tattle on her Mommy. Gammie had quite a soft spot for her granddog. Ella Grace had a bit of a sassy side and was famous for her creative ways of getting into trouble.

Ella Grace was ultimately just like any other sweet fluffy baby. She never met a drive thru treat or pupicino she didn’t like. She loved walkies beside the water and long car rides with wind in her face. She would steal your snacks or get a quick taste of your drink. In some ways Ella Grace was just like any other pup, but she was truly special in a million other ways.

This world will never be the same without sweet and sassy Ella Grace. She will be deeply and truly missed, but we all know that her Great-Mawmaw (Thelma) is waiting for her on the other side of the rainbow bridge. Ella Grace touched the lives of many and she will continue to warm our hearts forever.

Houston GannApril 6, 2015 – October 10, 2026Houston, a standard poodle of uncommon glamour and even more uncommon appetite, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, at her Mee Maw's house. She was 11 years old. Born the day after Easter, she arrived just in time to miss the candy and spent the rest of her life making up for it.

Houston wore the classic Miami cut — pom-poms on every leg and a fabulous bang visor — and was dyed bright pink on more than one occasion, looking absolutely stunning every time. She loved people of all kinds and never met a stranger, though she made it loudly clear that other dogs were not on the guest list. A proud mother of six, she spent her retirement as a dedicated bed hog, a post-bath zoomie champion, and the yard's most committed squirrel patrol. She barked at every squirrel and chased each one up a tree, fully confident that this would be the day. It never was. She never stopped believing.

Her true passion was food. Houston could put away an entire box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts if anyone was careless enough to leave it on the counter, and whenever bacon hit the stove, she took her post right beside it, waiting for her share to come flying her way. She loved car rides too, and on the drive from Charlotte she could catch the scent of Mee Maw's house from miles away — always the first to know she was almost home.

She is survived by her people, Ben Gann and Billie "Mee Maw" Gann, and by every Krispy Kreme employee who will never know why their sales just dropped.

In lieu of flowers, please cook a little extra bacon and toss a piece to someone you love. Houston would want it that way. More than anything, she'll be remembered for how sweet she was — and for the way she made every house she walked into feel like home.
