A few weeks ago, we asked what you would change.
We noticed a pattern:
You care deeply about feeding your flock well.
You want quality.
You want organic.
You want it to work in real life.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We’ve been listening.

More soon. 👀

Waiting on eggs from your pullets? Most hens start laying between 18–24 weeks.

There are a few clear signals to watch for. Squatting when you approach is one of the strongest indicators, since it’s tied to reproductive hormones kicking in. You’ll also see more nest box interest, like going in and out, scratching around, or sitting for short practice sessions. When those signs start stacking together, egg production is usually close.

🥚 On the verge of first eggs? Make sure your flock is on a complete layer feed so they have the calcium, protein, and nutrients needed when laying begins. Your products can be found at the link in our bio.

Your flock deserves its own sticker pack. 🐔✨ Swipe through, screenshot your favorites, and turn them into stickers on your phone.

On your iPhone:
• Open the screenshot in Photos
• Press and hold the design
• Tap “Add Sticker”

Now, for the fun part:
Drop them on your Instagram Stories, send them to your chicken friends, add them to group chats, and use them anywhere iPhone stickers work.

We'd be thrilled to see these all over Instagram. If you use one in your Stories, tag us so we can spot it (and maybe share it 👀).

For many of us, this is the whole point: investing in a lifestyle that gives back in more ways than one. The eggs are at the center of that: daily gifts from your flock, food for your family, the reason organic matters. We hope you’re frying a few backyard eggs today, or baking with them, or simply collecting them with your favorite people. Happy !

Grower feed time… 🌱🐓

At this stage, your chicks are growing fast, and both mash and crumbles are still complete, organic feeds designed to support steady, healthy development. It really comes down to what works best for your setup and flock behavior.

• Mash = organic whole grains, great if you’re fermenting or prefer a more natural texture
• Crumbles = consistent size, less waste, easy for birds to eat efficiently

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, just what keeps your birds thriving.

We're curious, what type of feed format (mash or crumbles) do you prefer to feed your flock?

A lot of us at Scratch and Peck aren’t just talking about chicken feed from behind a desk. We’re out there doing the same chores as everyone else, feeding chickens, cleaning coops, gathering eggs, topping off waterers, and all the small repeat things that make up a flock routine.

That’s part of why this work feels different. We’re not guessing what matters in a flock. We’re living it right alongside you, learning from it, and adjusting based on what we see every day.

Scratch and Peck Feeds is easy to feel good about for a reason. It’s certified organic, non-GMO Project Verified, and made without soy or corn. It’s grown and made in North America, held to Animal Welfare Approved standards, and backed by B Corp certification.

Drop a ☕ in the comments if you like to have your morning coffee with your flock.

If you have laying hens, oyster shell should be part of your routine. 🥚🦪

It’s a free-choice source of calcium that supports strong eggshells - especially important once hens are actively laying.

The key is offering it separately from feed so they can take what they need, when they need it.
Simple, but it makes a difference.

Strong shells start with the right support.

At Scratch & Peck, we’re intentional about every ingredient. Our oyster shell is sustainably sourced and made from a natural byproduct. We don’t like to see good resources go to waste, that means you can support your flock while also supporting the environment.

Offering free choice oyster shell helps each bird get exactly what she needs, when she needs it:
✔ Supports strong, durable eggshells
✔ Helps prevent calcium depletion
✔ Encourages better overall flock health
✔ Birds self-regulate intake naturally

No guesswork, just keep it simple and available. Your birds will take what they need.

Really good nutrition, every single day.

Our Organic Layer Pellets 16% are made to keep feeding simple and consistent. The pellet form helps reduce waste from scratching while ensuring every bite is balanced with the nutrients your flock needs to thrive.

Formulated for laying hens 20 weeks and up, this feed supports a steady laying cycle with 16% protein, while added calcium helps maintain strong shells and overall hen health. You’ll see it in their feathers, their behavior, and the eggs they produce.

Intentionally sourced, and packaged in recyclable, compostable materials. Because quality feed should support your flock and the environment they live in.
