🐾 CAN’T FIND WHAT YOU NEED? ASK US ABOUT A SPECIAL ORDER!

We know many of our customers live on this side of town and would rather not drive across Burlington or into a neighboring town just to pick up their pet supplies. Let us help make things easier!

If there’s something you’re looking for that we don’t currently carry, let us know. Anything available through Pet Food Warehouse, we can order for you.

Looking for something more specialized—like a particular leash, harness, personal-care product, grooming tool, supplement, or other pet essential? We can research brands, compare quality, and see what we can source for you.

We’re selective about what we bring into Zen Paws. Everything we carry is something we personally use—or would feel confident using—on our own pets.

📩 Send us a message, comment below, or ask us in the salon about placing a special order.

Convenient. Thoughtfully researched. Chosen with your pet’s well-being in mind. 🌈🐾

🌿 WELLNESS WEDNESDAY: Veterinary Care Beyond the Symptoms 🐾

At Zen Paws Pet Spa, we talk a lot about one simple idea:

Wellness is more than what we do when something goes wrong.

That applies to grooming — and it applies to veterinary care, too.

One local veterinary practice I personally use and appreciate is Qi Veterinary Clinic in Shelburne, Vermont.

What resonates with me about Qi is their integrative approach to veterinary medicine. Rather than looking only at a symptom, their philosophy brings together Eastern and Western medicine and considers the animal more holistically.

🥕 Nutrition & whole foods
🌿 Herbal medicine
🩺 Conventional veterinary medicine & diagnostics
📍 Acupuncture
🐕 Chiropractic care & massage
💡 Modern therapies
❤️ Preventative care & maintaining wellness

This is very much in alignment with how I think about animal care at Zen Paws.

Lifestyle matters. Nutrition matters. Movement matters. Environment matters. Grooming matters.

Of course, there are times when our animals need medication, diagnostics, surgery, or other conventional medical treatment. Holistic care doesn't have to mean rejecting modern medicine.

For me, it's about asking a bigger question:

How can we support the whole animal — Mind, Body, Spirit & Paw — instead of waiting until something goes wrong?

That's one of the reasons Qi has been my personal choice for veterinary care.

🐾 Want to nerd out on holistic and integrative veterinary care with me?

Take a look through Qi Veterinary Clinic's website. They have information about their approach, nutrition, Chinese medicine, acupuncture, herbal medicine and more:

Please note: Qi's website currently states that they are not accepting new patients. I'm sharing them because they're a local resource I personally value and because their approach to animal wellness is worth learning about.

Grooming is Wellness & Healthcare.

🌱 SPROUT YOUR PET’S WELLNESS WITH FLORA4 🐾

Did you know that not all probiotics and nutritional toppers have to come from a bottle?

At Zen Paws Pet Spa, we love whole-food options, and Carna4 Flora4 uses raw, organic sprouted seeds as a natural source of probiotics, digestive enzymes, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and other nutrients. 🐶🐱

We carry two Flora4 options, and they’re designed to complement each other:

🌾 Flora4 Original Sprouted Seed Topper – 18 oz
Made with organic sprouted:
• Barley
• Flax
• Green lentils
• Red lentils

🥦 Flora4 Greens Plus – 18 oz
Made with organic sprouted:
• Peas
• Chia
• Sunflower
• Pumpkin
• Broccoli

So which one should you use?

✨ BOTH!

Carna4 actually recommends using Original and Greens Plus in rotation. Rotating the two gives your pet a wider variety of sprouted whole foods — 8 different sprouted seeds in total!

🐾 WAYS TO USE FLORA4

Flora4 can be added to:
🥩 Raw diets
🥣 Kibble
🥕 Home-cooked diets

It can be used as a daily nutritional topper and may help support:

🌱 Healthy digestion
🌱 Beneficial gut bacteria
🌱 Healthy stool quality
🌱 Skin & coat health
🌱 Immune health
🌱 Nutrient absorption

BEST PRACTICE: If your pet is new to Flora4, don't jump straight to the full serving. Carna4 recommends beginning with about ½ of the recommended daily amount and gradually increasing to the full amount over approximately one week.

For kibble-fed pets, lightly moisten the food before mixing in Flora4 so the ground seeds adhere to the food instead of ending up at the bottom of the bowl.

💚 Healthy pet already eating a high-quality whole-food diet?
Carna4 notes that about ½ of the recommended therapeutic dosage may be sufficient when Flora4 is being used simply as a nutritional supplement.

And remember: every pet is an individual. Introduce new foods gradually and talk with your veterinarian when your pet has ongoing digestive, skin or medical concerns.

📚 Want to nerd out on sprouted seeds with us?

Carna4 has an entire Flora4 education section explaining the ingredients, feeding recommendations, probiotics, enzymes and why they recommend rotating Original and Greens Plus.

🌱 Growth Begins Where Comfort Ends

One of the most incredible things about the human brain is neuroplasticity—our brain's ability to learn, adapt, and create new pathways throughout our lives.

Think about it...

There was a time when driving a car, using a smartphone, sending a text message, or ordering something online felt confusing. Today, many of those things happen almost automatically because your brain adapted through repetition.

Learning something new is rarely comfortable at first. That's not because you're incapable—it's because your brain is literally building new connections.

As Zen Paws continues to grow, we're asking our clients to grow with us.

Our Gingr for Pet Parents Portal allows you to:
🐾 Request appointments
🐾 View upcoming appointments
🐾 Update your information
🐾 Review invoices and visit history
🐾 Digitally sign agreements
🐾 Keep your credit card securely on file
🐾 Manage your pet's account anytime—day or night

We understand that new technology can feel intimidating at first. That's okay. Growth often feels uncomfortable before it feels easy.

To help make the transition as smooth as possible, Zen Paws will be creating our own step-by-step tutorial videos showing exactly how to use both the Gingr for Pet Parents Portal and the mobile app.

In the meantime, there are already several helpful tutorial videos available on YouTube that can walk you through the basics while ours are in production.

Our goal has never been to make things harder.

Our goal is to create a better experience for everyone—less paperwork, fewer phone calls, more convenience, better communication, and more time for what matters most: caring for your pets.

Thank you to everyone who continues to learn, grow, and evolve with us. We truly appreciate your willingness to embrace positive change.

After all...

Growth doesn't happen because things stay comfortable. Growth happens because we're willing to learn something new.

🐾 PART 4 OF 4: Why Timely Pickup Matters 🐾

One of the things we talk about often at Zen Paws Pet Spa is that grooming is a partnership.

The best grooming experience happens when the groomer, the pet, and the owner all work together as a team.

One way owners help support that experience is through timely pickup after receiving their Ready Text.

While many dogs enjoy spending time at the salon, Zen Paws Pet Spa is a grooming salon—not a boarding facility or doggy daycare.

Our space is designed around grooming appointments and creating a calm, low-stress environment for every pet in our care.

When multiple dogs remain after they are finished, the salon can begin to feel crowded.

Some dogs become overstimulated.

Some become frustrated.

Some begin feeding off each other's excitement.

And dogs who were previously relaxed may suddenly become overwhelmed by the increased activity around them.

Our goal is always to maintain a peaceful environment where every dog feels safe, comfortable, and supported.

That said, we understand that life happens.

Maybe you're picking up your children from school.

Maybe you're finishing a grocery run.

Maybe work ran late.

Maybe traffic is heavier than expected.

We don't expect you to drop everything and race to the salon the second you receive your Ready Text.

We simply ask for communication.

If you know you'll need extra time before pickup, send us a quick text so we can plan accordingly.

That communication helps us manage the flow of the salon, maintain adequate space for all pets, and continue providing the calm environment that so many dogs have come to enjoy.

Because the environment matters.

The energy matters.

And every decision we make is designed to support the physical and emotional well-being of the dogs in our care.

Grooming isn't just about what happens on the table.

It's about creating an experience where dogs can feel safe, comfortable, and successful from drop-off to pickup.

That's the Zen Paws way.

🐾 Mindset Monday: What You Permit, You Promote 🐾

There is a phrase I've used for years in my personal life:

"You only get what you allow."

While I can't remember who originally taught it to me, the lesson has stuck.

Because whether we realize it or not, what we permit, we promote.

Every time we allow a behavior, a habit, or a pattern to continue, we are teaching ourselves—and others—that it is acceptable.

This isn't about blame.

It's about awareness.

Many of us tolerate things we don't actually want because addressing them feels uncomfortable.

We avoid difficult conversations.
We ignore red flags.
We hope things will magically improve on their own.

But in doing so, we often end up reinforcing the very thing we wish would change.

The same principle applies to our pets.

I hear people say things like:

❌ "I don't want my dog jumping on guests."

❌ "I don't want my dog pulling on the leash."

❌ "I don't want my dog resisting grooming."

Yet every day, small moments occur where those behaviors are unintentionally allowed, ignored, or reinforced.

Dogs are always learning.

If jumping earns attention, jumping gets repeated.

If pulling gets them where they want to go, pulling gets repeated.

If handling only happens when something uncomfortable is about to happen, resistance often gets repeated.

Our pets aren't being stubborn.

They're learning from the outcomes their behaviors create.

And honestly, so are we.

One of the most important lessons I've learned is that boundaries aren't about control.

They're about clarity.

Healthy boundaries teach people—and pets—what creates safety, trust, and success.

At Zen Paws Pet Spa, we often talk about grooming acclimation.

A puppy doesn't automatically know how to stand for grooming.

A dog doesn't magically understand nail trims.

These skills are taught through repetition, consistency, patience, and clear expectations.

The behaviors we consistently allow become the behaviors we consistently experience.

That's true in grooming.

That's true in relationships.

That's true in life.

So perhaps the question isn't:

"Why does this keep happening?"

Maybe the better question is:

"What am I permitting that I no longer want to promote?"

Because awareness creates choice.

And choice creates change.

✨ What you permit, you promote.

✨ You only get what you allow.

✨ The behaviors you reinforce become the behaviors you receive.

What is one thing in your life—or your pet's life—that could benefit from clearer boundaries and expectations?

🐾 Mindset Monday: The Role We Play in Our Own Suffering 🐾

One of the hardest questions we can ask ourselves is:

"What role am I playing in my own suffering?"

That question isn't about blame.

It's about awareness.

I often look at life's challenges as what I call "Blessons"—blessings and lessons wrapped into one experience.

Sometimes the blessing is easy to see. Other times it shows up disguised as frustration, disappointment, loss, or a challenge I didn't ask for.

Over the years, I've learned that many of the situations I resisted the most ended up teaching me exactly what I needed to learn. They helped me grow, set better boundaries, change direction (or perhaps more accurately, experience redirection), or become more aware of the role I was playing in my own life.

I've come to realize that not every closed door is a failure. Not every setback means we're on the wrong path. Sometimes what feels like an obstacle is actually life redirecting us toward something that better serves us.

The lesson doesn't always arrive when we want it to. But if we're willing to stay curious, there's often something valuable waiting to be discovered on the other side.

I see this often in my work as a dog groomer.

A pet develops matting, overgrown nails, skin issues, grooming anxiety, or behavioral challenges. Instead of addressing the issue early, appointments get postponed, home care gets neglected, or we hope the problem will somehow resolve itself.

Months later, what could have been a simple maintenance appointment becomes more stressful, more expensive, and more uncomfortable for the pet.

The goal isn't to shame anyone.

The goal is to recognize that awareness creates choice.

When we know better, we can do better.

Whether it's our own health, our relationships, our finances, our mindset, or our pet's care, growth begins when we stop asking:

"Why is this happening to me?"

And start asking:

"What can I learn from this?"

"What can I do differently moving forward?"

Those questions shift us from feeling powerless to becoming empowered.

Small actions taken consistently often create bigger changes than waiting for the perfect solution.

Because healing, growth, and change require participation.

At Zen Paws Pet Spa, we believe grooming is healthcare. Consistent grooming maintenance helps prevent many of the problems that become bigger challenges later.

✨ Every experience is either a blessing or a lesson. Often, it's both.

07/11/2026

🐾 PART 3 OF 3: Understanding Yourself Helps You Understand Your Dog 🐾

One of the most valuable lessons dogs have taught me has very little to do with grooming.

It's awareness.

At Zen Paws Pet Spa, we believe that understanding your dog begins with understanding yourself.

And sometimes understanding your dog helps you understand yourself.

Dogs are constantly observing us.

They notice our routines.

They notice our moods.

They notice our stress.

They notice when we're rushing, frustrated, grieving, overwhelmed, excited, calm, or present.

Long before we realize something has changed, our dogs often know.

That's why one of my favorite questions is:

✨ What role do we play in our own suffering? ✨

Not as a criticism.

Not as blame.

But as an invitation to awareness.

Sometimes life is difficult.

Sometimes circumstances happen that are beyond our control.

But awareness allows us to notice the patterns, habits, beliefs, reactions, and energy we bring into situations.

And when we become aware, we gain the ability to respond differently.

The same is true with our dogs.

Instead of asking:

"Why is my dog doing this to me?"

We can ask:

"What might my dog be trying to communicate?"

Instead of asking:

"Why is my dog stressed?"

We can ask:

"What changes have happened recently that may be affecting them?"

Instead of asking:

"What's wrong with my dog?"

We can ask:

"What might my dog need from me right now?"

The beautiful thing is that this awareness works both ways.

The more we learn about ourselves, the more we understand our dogs.

The more we learn about our dogs, the more they teach us about ourselves.

Dogs have a remarkable way of reflecting what is happening within their families.

They teach us patience.

They teach us consistency.

They teach us presence.

They teach us compassion.

And sometimes they reveal things we've been too busy to notice.

When we approach ourselves and our pets with curiosity instead of judgment, something amazing happens.

We create space for growth.

We create space for healing.

We create space for understanding.

Because grooming is about more than maintaining a coat.

It's about building trust.

It's about creating connection.

It's about strengthening the relationship between pets and the people who love them.

🐾 Understanding yourself helps you understand your dog.

🐾 Understanding your dog helps you understand yourself.

That's the Zen Paws way.
