87 days missing. One long-awaited reunion. Welcome home, Lala! 🐈♥️🐾
On July 23, K-9 Lexi and K-9 Tulip joined the search for Lala. Both girls quickly focused on a small area close to home, between a neighbor’s yard and a storm drain. Neither showed interest in leaving that street or continuing farther into the neighborhood.
We put together a customized action plan for Mom: keep flyers posted throughout the area and place a trail camera and trap between those two locations. Access and cooperation made parts of that plan difficult, but Mom kept trying—and kept those flyers up.
Then, 84 days after our track, the call she had been waiting for finally came. A kind neighbor a few blocks away had seen a flyer, caught Lala, and brought her safely into her bathroom. Mom rushed over! ♥️
Lala was a little banged up, and Mom believes she may have been sheltering in the storm drains.
Through the waiting and uncertainty, Mom sometimes felt her hope slipping. During our search, I encouraged her to keep the faith: Lexi and Tulip’s work had given us an area to focus on, and we had no confirmed information that Lala had left it.
After 87 days missing, Lala is finally reunited with her mom. She isn’t quite home yet—she’s safe at the veterinary clinic receiving the care she needs—but the search is over, and her family can begin looking forward to bringing her home.
Thank you to the wonderful neighbor who saw the flyer and helped bring this reunion together, and to Lala’s mom for continuing to search even when it was hard. Those flyers helped make that long-awaited call possible.
