Costume planning season is officially here.

If your pet is dressing up, keep it comfortable and safe: nothing that limits movement, vision, or breathing, no small pieces they could chew off, and always supervise while it is on.

If your pet would rather skip the outfit, a festive bandana still earns full marks.

So tell us, what is your pet going as this year? We want to hear it in the comments.

Here is a quick one you can do at home... Gently lift your pet's lip and take a look!

Red gums, discolored teeth or breath you can smell from across the couch are all worth a call to your veterinarian. Dental issues are common and they are a lot easier to manage when caught early.

Ask us about a dental check. Call us at (703) 569-9600 today!

As the mornings get cooler, you might notice your older pet moving a little slower.

Stiffness after a nap, hesitation at the stairs, or less interest in a favorite game are all symptoms you should contact your veterinarian to discuss.

It is easy to write these off as just getting older, but there is often a lot we can do to help them feel better.

If your senior seems off lately, give us a call at (703) 569-9600!

Cats and dogs are wired to hide illness.

In the wild, showing weakness is dangerous, so our pets often mask symptoms until they feel truly awful. That's why regular exams matter so much.

Subtle changes worth a call:
- Drinking or urinating more
- Weight changes
- Less interest in food or play
- New lumps or bumps

When in doubt, get it checked.

Gray muzzles deserve extra love. As pets enter their senior years, twice-yearly exams help us stay ahead of the changes that come with age: kidney function, arthritis, dental disease, and more. Many age-related conditions are manageable when caught early. Your senior can stay comfortable and happy for years to come.
