It’s never easy saying goodbye to a valued member of our Highline Veterinary Hospital family! 🐾

Auna has been part of our team since 2021, when Dr. Logan took ownership of the practice, and we are so grateful for the time she has spent with us as our Lead Client Service Representative.

From her always-present smile to her warm, welcoming demeanor, Auna has been such a wonderful first point of contact for our clients and their beloved pets. Her kindness and friendly presence have helped make so many visits a little brighter, and she will truly be missed by our team and the families who have gotten to know her over the years. 💕

As Auna heads off on a new adventure, we wish her nothing but happiness, success, and exciting new opportunities in this next chapter of her life!

Thank you, Auna, for being such an important part of the Highline Vet family. You’ve left a lasting paw print on our hearts, and while we’re sad to see you go, we can’t wait to see what wonderful things are ahead for you! 🐾💙

Once part of the Highline family, always part of the Highline family. 🐶🐱

Join us in wishing Auna all the best in her next adventure! 💙

🧠💚 WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 💚🐾

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that mental health matters, and that taking care of ourselves is just as important as taking care of everyone (and every furry face!) around us.

🐶🐱 Our pets can be pretty amazing for our mental well-being.
They give us companionship, comfort, routine, laughter, and sometimes the perfect excuse to get out of bed and go for a walk. 🥹❤️

But here’s your reminder that you don’t have to be having a “bad enough” day to take care of your mental health. Taking a break, spending time with your pet, getting outside, talking to someone you trust, or simply giving yourself permission to rest can all be meaningful forms of self-care.

And for those who work in veterinary medicine, we know that loving animals deeply can also mean carrying some pretty heavy emotions. 💚🐾 It’s okay to acknowledge that. It’s okay to ask for support. And it’s okay to take care of YOU, too.

So today, take a moment to:
🌿 Step outside
🐾 Spend some time with your pet
☕ Take a real break
💬 Check in with someone you care about
❤️ Give yourself a little grace

You matter. Your mental health matters. And you don't have to do everything alone.

From all of us at Highline Veterinary Hospital, take care of yourselves and each other. 💚🐾

🍽️🐶🐱 How Many Calories Does My Pet Actually Need?

Just like people, every pet has different nutritional needs—and there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer!

A pet’s daily calorie needs can depend on several factors, including:

🐾 Age – Puppies, kittens, adults, and seniors have different energy requirements.
🐾 Size & body condition – A healthy weight and ideal body condition are important factors.
🐾 Activity level – A couch potato and an active adventure buddy don't burn calories the same way!
🐾 Breed & metabolism – Individual pets can have very different energy needs.
🐾 Spay/neuter status – Metabolic needs can change after being altered.
🐾 Health conditions – Certain medical conditions can affect weight and nutritional needs.

And don't forget the extras! 🦴 Treats, table scraps, chews, and even food used for medications can add calories to your pet's daily intake.

💡 The feeding guide on the food bag is a starting point—not necessarily the perfect amount for YOUR pet.

During your pet's wellness visit, we can help assess their body condition and discuss whether their current diet and portion sizes are appropriate.
❤️ Healthy weight = healthier, happier years together!

Have questions about your pet's diet or weight? Talk with our veterinary team—we're happy to help! 🩺🐾

Did you know?? 👀 According to the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), "eyeballing" or guessing portions leads to frequent overfeeding.🙀 Pet owners often overestimate food sizes by 15% to 30% when using regular kitchen mugs or random scoops.
