🐾 Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Piper Selmon 🐾

Dr. Piper Selmon joined the Normandy Animal Hospital team in August 2025. She earned her veterinary degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 and completed her clinical training at Colorado State University. After graduation, she moved to Seattle, where she met her husband, a Pacific Northwest native. They now live in Normandy Park with their two young sons and their sweet rescue pup, Cora. ❤️🐶

Dr. Selmon has a special interest in dentistry and chronic pain management, especially helping senior pets stay comfortable and maintain a great quality of life.

Outside of the clinic, she enjoys neighborhood walks, sewing and crafting, and spending time with her family. She loves being part of the Normandy Park community and caring for the pets and families in our area.

🐾 Doctor Spotlight: Dr. Jeanie Welker 🐾

Dr. Welker was raised in the Ozarks and brings an incredibly diverse background and wealth of experience to our team! Before becoming a veterinarian, she earned a degree in Graphic Communications with a minor in English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis and served as a U.S. Naval Officer for five years after attending Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida.

After her military service, she returned to school to pursue veterinary medicine, earning her DVM from the University of Missouri–Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced in Missouri for five years before making the move to the Pacific Northwest.

When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Welker enjoys traveling, arts and crafts, puzzles, antique and muscle cars, martial arts, and weightlifting. She practices both Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is also an IFBB Pro bodybuilder!

We are so lucky to have her knowledge, dedication, and compassion here at Normandy Animal Hospital! ❤️

Veterinary Receptionist Week!

The final full week of April (April 19–25) is all about celebrating the hardworking veterinary professionals who are often the first friendly faces to greet you and your pets each day 🐾

This week, we’re celebrating Ahnika—she keeps everything running smoothly up front, goes above and beyond for our clients, and always brings positivity and a friendly face to even the busiest days. We’re so lucky to have her!

Spring is a great reminder to keep your pet protected from heartworms, fleas, and ticks 🐾

As temperatures start to rise, mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks become more active, increasing your pet’s risk. Prevention is key—and it’s not just seasonal. We recommend keeping pets on protection year-round to avoid any gaps in coverage.

Not sure if your pet is up to date? We’re happy to help—give us a call or use the link in our bio to schedule an appointment!

💕Stop by the clinic and check out the giant bulletin board Lesley made—it’s packed with helpful info on parasites like fleas, ticks, and other risks to watch for!
