🦮👂What are your dog’s ears trying to tell you?
Healthy ears should generally look clean, light pink, and dry, with little to no odor or excessive buildup. But changes in your pup’s ears can sometimes be an early sign that something needs attention.
Keep an eye out for:
🐾 Frequent ear scratching
🐾 Head shaking
🐾 Redness or swelling
🐾 Strong or unusual odor
🐾 Excessive wax or discharge
🐾 Dark, coffee-ground-like debris
🐾 Sensitivity when the ears are touched
🐾 Rubbing their ears against the floor or furniture
Ear problems can have several causes, including yeast, bacteria, ear mites, allergies, moisture, or wax buildup—and they can look very similar. That’s why persistent symptoms should be evaluated by your veterinarian rather than treated based on appearance alone.
✨ A little prevention goes a long way: Check your dog’s ears regularly, keep them dry after bathing or swimming, and only use ear-cleaning products recommended for dogs. Never insert cotton swabs deep into the ear ca**l.
