Born in September 2020, this gentle girl loves greeting visitors, soaking up pets, and following her favorite people around just to be close.

Before coming to us, Matilda spent years confined to a tiny cage to keep her separated from the dogs in her former home. Now she’s enjoying a fresh start, and her loving personality is shining through!

Matilda would likely be happiest as your one-and-only cat, enjoying your attention and affection. A cozy bed, a sunny window, and a loving person to share her days with would be her perfect match.

Sometimes the generosity of our community leaves us absolutely SPEECHLESS, and this is one of those times! ❤️

The Bulverde Area Humane Society wants to give an ENORMOUS THANK YOU to the incredible folks at Smithson Valley Services!

Not only did they come out and professionally install a brand-new Mitsubishi mini-split heating and air conditioning system in our shelter's cabin, but THEY DONATED THE ENTIRE SYSTEM TO US!! ❤️

YES! You read that correctly! A beautiful new heating and cooling system, generously DONATED and installed!
WOW! JUST WOW! 🥰

As an all-volunteer, nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter, every dollar we save means more resources available to care for the hundreds of homeless, abandoned, injured, and medically fragile animals who depend on us.

Our cabin is an important part of our daily shelter operations, and this wonderful gift will help keep our hardworking volunteers comfortable through those scorching Texas summers and chilly winters!

But this donation represents so much more than heating and air conditioning.

Amber's favorite walking pace? Forward, back for affection, forward, back for affection.

She's a sweet Shepherd mix who likes to explore but never wants to be too far from her person. New people can make her a little nervous at first, but she warms up quickly with kindness and affection.

She's also learning that other dogs can be playmates, and when she finds one who's ready to play, she's happy to join in.

If your ideal dog is curious, affectionate, and happiest when checking in with you, Amber deserves a spot on your list.

🐾❤️ BREAKING NEWS!!! TEDDY'S JAW IS MOVING... AND I'M GOING HOME!!! ❤️🐾

🎉 MY BIG DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!! AND MY NEW LIFE IS JUST BEGINNING!!! 🎉

HI EVERYBODY!!! IT'S MEEEE... TEDDY!!! 😻💕🐾

OH MY WHISKERS!!! DO I HAVE THE MOST AMAZING NEWS TO SHARE WITH ALL MY WONDERFUL FRIENDS!!!

MY JAW IS MOVING!!! MY JAW IS MOVING!!! MY JAW IS MOVING!!! 🎉🎉🎉

AND GUESS WHAT ELSE???
I'M ON MY WAY HOME!!! 🚗❤️🐾

After all these months of waiting, hoping, praying, and dreaming, something absolutely WONDERFUL happened!

I GOT MY JAW SURGERY!!! AND GUESS WHAT?! IT WORKED!!! ❤️🥹

For so long, my little mouth hasn't worked the way other kitties' mouths do. My tongue hangs out, eating is a messy adventure, and there are so many things I've never been able to do.

But NOW... everything is changing!!!

And you know what my shelter family just realized???

YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY GET TO HEAR ME MEOW FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!!! 😭❤️🐾

Can you imagine?!

I've had SO MUCH to say all this time, and now maybe, just maybe, I'll finally be able to tell everybody how much I LOVE THEM!!!

Oh boy, are you people in trouble! I've got MONTHS of talking to catch up on!!! 😂💕😻

❤️ AND HERE'S EVEN MORE AMAZING NEWS!!!

My wonderful doctors were able to perform my surgery WITHOUT needing:

🐾 A feeding tube!

🐾 A tracheotomy!

🐾 Any unexpected complications requiring additional procedures!

NONE OF THEM!!! 🎉🎉🎉

I spent last night being carefully watched by the wonderful folks at VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group), making sure my pain was managed and my little body was recovering safely.

A MASSIVE THANK-YOU TO VEG FOR TAKING SUCH WONDERFUL CARE OF ME OVERNIGHT!!! ❤️🐾

And now...

I'VE BEEN CLEARED TO GO HOME!!! 🎉🚗

But WAIT!!! THERE'S MORE!!!
You're not going to believe what my doctors told Daddy Bobby!

I'M SUPPOSED TO START EATING CRUNCHY FOOD RIGHT AWAY!!! 😻🎉

CRUNCHY FOOD!!!

ME!!!

TEDDY!!!

The little boy who has spent his life making an absolute disaster out of every meal!!!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF!!! 😂❤️

I might actually get to eat like a NORMAL KITTY!!!

No more sticking my whole face into my food bowl just to get a bite!

Well... maybe I'll still make a little mess occasionally.

And knowing how protective he is of me, don't be surprised if you see him driving extra carefully, possibly with his hazard lights flashing!

He's carrying some VERY precious cargo!

You gave me the possibility of eating normally, playing with my toys, carrying things in my mouth, and maybe even finding my very own little MEOW!

How do you thank someone for giving you possibilities you've never had before?

I think I'll start with a million purrs and a lifetime of love. ❤️

💕 AND NOW... LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY SUPERHERO DADDY, BOBBY!!!

My foster daddy has been by my side through EVERYTHING!
Every appointment, every mile traveled, every worry, every sleepless night, and every little victory.

He has loved me through all my challenges, and today he's bringing me home after the biggest milestone of my little life!

DADDY BOBBY, YOU ARE MY HERO!!! 🦸‍♂️❤️🐾

And my mommy Elizabeth did something extra special!
She mailed two beautiful medals for me to have during surgery.

One of St. Christopher, the patron saint of travelers, and one of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
Because my family wanted me surrounded by love, protection, prayers, and hope from EVERYWHERE! ❤️🙏

And believe me, I felt every bit of that love!

💕 TO MY ENTIRE TEDDY CHEERING SQUAD...
