We’re in the final phase of the American Cocker Spaniel cataract genetics study — and we urgently need NEW dogs to finish the work. Clear or affected, age 8+, from pedigrees not yet represented. Your dog could be the key that unlocks the 2027 genetic test.

Early‑ and late‑onset cataracts come from different genetic regions, and some clear dogs carry markers while others never develop cataracts at all. That means multiple genetic components are involved — and every new participant helps us map the full picture.

We’re looking for:• Clear dogs age 8+ with a current CAER exam• Affected dogs ages 2–5 and 5–8• Updated exams for dogs already enrolledParticipation is easy: cheek swab + eye exam. No blood draws.

A reliable genetic test is coming in 2027, and pedigree diversity is the final push we need. The research team is optimistic — but we need YOU.

With Mercy x Kaido kids getting closer, I wanted to go ahead and let everyone know that Mercy will be going back to Huntcrest Cockers* to whelp her litter and I will be entrusting Lani Wright to make placement decisions for this litter. If you were waiting for a puppy from me and you want to be considered for this litter, please reach out to either myself here or Lani. We are in close contact with one another so the message will be received either way!

*The reason I am currently entrusting someone else to whelp and raise my litters is due to the working hours I’m scheduled are not conducive to raising a litter to my satisfaction, but thankfully, Lani is able to raise them the same way I do and they will be close enough for me to visit and evaluate the litter. Whelping and raising puppies is a full time job all by itself, but the perks are great (if you don’t mind losing sleep at night).
