"My female pet is not eating, seems lethargic, and recently ended her heat cycle".....the call we dread.😞👎

Pyometra is a life threatening infection of the uterus in an unspayed cat or dog. The infection happens when bacteria is introduced to the uterus, most often during a normal heat cycle. Without surgery to remove the infected uterus, the pet will suffer and die.

PREVENTION is key!
Spaying female cats and dogs prevents this possibility for their entire lifespan.
Spaying a healthy dog or cat is less expensive and less risk than pyometra surgery.

Pictured: an infection of a cat uterus, pyometra and a normal healthy cat uterus after spay. We are happy to say the patient with the pyometra in the picture survived and recovered.
