Bemidji PD K-9 Doc was not going to be outgunned by Falco. The Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force was on the tail of suspected narcotics users/dealers. Hubbard County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle. After RAS was obtained, K-9 Doc was deployed to sniff the vehicle for illegal narcotics. Doc alerted to the vehicle and nearly 1 pound of m**h was located. Great job guys. Iggy would be proud of his brother!

Mille Lacs Tribal PD K-9 Falco had a nice find recently. Officers had reasonable suspicion that there were illegal narcotics in a vehicle at the Grand Casino Mille Lacs parking lot. K-9 Falco was deployed on a sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics. A search revealed over 4.5 ounces of m**h under the drivers seat. One adult male went to jail and Falco got tons of praise and a Pup cup! Great job guys.

Sadly, 2 more dogs were killed while inside a vehicle who’s air conditioning failed. They were inside a newer Chev Suburban at a K-9 certification a few days ago. The outdoor temperature was 100 degrees or better. For some reason Chevrolet has their engines programmed to shut down after a given amount of time. 15 minutes for some, 30 minutes for other vehicles. Great idea Chevy! The handler knew about this and “thought” that he did an override of the shutdown. So, the dogs were left in the Suburban and yup, the engine shut down as did the A/C and the dogs died. Come on now! Handlers are responsible for the health and life of their dogs. Stop relying on a mechanical solution (A/C) to keep your dogs alive. Handlers must keep the rear windows down AND check on their dogs regularly during these super hot days. Failed equipment does not kill dogs any more than guns kill people or cars drive drunk. No excuses. Be smart. Check on your dogs, get a fan, get a heat alarm, and keep the rear windows down. Own it!

Hennepin County Sheriff’s K-9 Iggy had another huge find. The West Metro DTF executed a search warrant at a Minneapolis residence on April 29th. The search netted multiple fi****ms, over $5000 in cash, and roughly 4.5 pounds of powder fentanyl. A 28 year old man has been charged with multiple felonies. Super job Iggy and all of the detectives with the DTF.

Robbinsdale PD (MN) K-9 Gator who just hit the street in early June made a nice find. Seems that a homeless dude stole a handgun and went back to the garage that he was squatting in. A search warrant was issued and Gator located 3.5 grams of co***ne. Police also located the stolen handgun and a bunch of extra ammo. Okay, not the seizure of the century but still a nice job for a super rookie dog and rookie handler!

I understand that this post is from the Department of Redundancy but I don’t think that the love, respect, and admiration for Joe Fuller can be overstated. Joe lost his battle with cancer yesterday. One of the finest human beings on the planet for sure. We are all saddened by his loss but happy that his suffering is over and that he is in a much better place.
