Thank you, Gracie, for your incredible support of Ark-Valley Humane Society through your Gold Annual Sponsorship. ❤🐶

Gracie was adopted from AVHS in 2021 and has been living her best life ever since in a loving home with her family. Gracie and her family are deeply connected to the shelter and have become some of our most heartfelt supporters!

Together, Gracie and her family have used their voices—both human and canine—to advocate for animals still waiting for their chance at a loving home. Their continued support helps shine a light on shelter pets and strengthens the work being done every day for shelter animals in need.

We are so grateful to see Gracie thriving and honored that her family continues to stand with AVHS and the animals we serve.

One part of enrichment at Ark-Valley Humane Society that many shelter cats enjoy is access to the catio! 🐱☀️

This covered outdoor space is open on calm-weather days and features screened windows that let cats enjoy the summer breeze in their fur.

Mouse is certainly loving it — and he’s available for adoption! ❤️

Exciting Miller Update 🐾🤍

Our sweet senior, Miller, is still looking for his loving adoptive home- and recently made a new friend!

The longer Miller remains in our care, the more we’ve gotten to know him and learn about how he interacts with other dogs in a variety of settings.

Throughout his time with us, Miller has consistently shown himself to be neutral around other dogs. Whether he’s out on walks, visiting public spaces, or passing dogs barking behind fences, Miller is content to go about his day without interest in engaging. He’s far more focused on calmly enjoying his walk and taking in the world around him.

In his most recent foster home Miller has been relaxed and comfortable during interactions with another senior male dog in the home, showing neutral behavior or actively initiating play.

Based on everything we’ve learned, we feel Miller may enjoy a canine companion, provided it’s the right match. As a senior dog, he would likely do best with a calm, respectful companion whose energy level complements his own. A laid-back friend could be a great fit for him.

As with any dog, compatibility is important. If you’re interested in adopting Miller and already have a dog at home, we ask that you bring them along for a meet-and-greet.

Miller is truly a special boy. He has a calm, gentle, and loving personality that has captured the hearts of our staff and volunteers. In his foster home, he has been quiet, well-mannered, potty trained, and content to spend his days snoozing beside his people. At this stage of life, he’s not looking for marathon hikes - just a cozy bed, a loving family, and someone to share his golden years with.

Miller will be turning 10 years-old in just a few months, and more than anything, we’d love to see him celebrate his birthday in a home of his own.

As an added bonus, Miller is currently the Heart of the Rockies Radio News Pet of the Week, which means his adoption fee is 50% off through Wednesday, June 17th.

Come meet this sweet senior and see why everyone who knows Miller loves him so much 🤍🤍🤍

Thank you to for helping Miller meet his new pal!

Special Home Needed for Carolyn ❤️🐱

Carolyn first came to Ark-Valley Humane Society through our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. During her spay surgery, our medical team discovered damage to her nail beds, which could have made life outdoors difficult. Because of this, she stayed with us for monitoring and recovery. The good news is that her nail beds are healing, and our veterinarian expects them to regrow normally.

Since arriving, Carolyn has accepted gentle petting and treats, but she has also made it clear through her body language that life as an indoor shelter cat isn’t where she’s happiest. After careful consideration, we believe Carolyn’s best chance to thrive is in a special indoor/outdoor home.

We’re looking for a patient adopter who can keep Carolyn safely indoors or in an enclosed space for a minimum of 4-6 weeks before allowing outdoor access. This adjustment period helps cats learn where food, shelter, and safety are located, giving them the best chance for success while also allowing Carolyn’s nail beds to continue healing.

While Carolyn may continue building trust with her caregivers and become more comfortable indoors over time, her current behavior suggests she would be happiest in a home where she can eventually enjoy outdoor access once again. We believe this is the most compassionate choice for her long-term wellbeing.

If you’d like to give Carolyn the home she deserves, please contact us at 719-395-2737 or [email protected].

As TNR season continues, we may also have other cats in need of a barn, garage, shed, workshop, or indoor/outdoor homes. If you’d like to be added to our Barn Home list, please fill out our form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScBueWJH8xSXa74quiimxNj7tD56qGGgYRPMjKaMis8ZM16fA/viewform?usp=header (link in bio)

There is no adoption fee for Carolyn or our barn home cats.

Please share Carolyn’s story and help us find the understanding, patient home she’s been waiting for. ❤️

Kitten Season is Here at Ark-Valley Humane Society 😻🐾

Right now, there are 16 kittens in our care—and more are arriving every day.

Each spring and summer, we enter what’s known as kitten season: a time when countless newborn kittens and mama cats need immediate warmth, safety, and medical care. We’re excited to cuddle some kittens, but this time of year also puts pressure on staff, foster homes, and our resources. They can’t wait for help—and neither can we.

At Ark-Valley Humane Society, we’re doing everything we can to help these moms and kittens, but we can’t do it alone.

We are excited for the upcoming rain! 🌧️Kida is not…

She will go in the rain for a quick potty break or to play fetch, but that’s it! Good thing we have a jacket for her.

Kida would rather be inside in her footie pajamas ❤️

Thank you to Altamont Landscaping for supporting Ark-Valley Humane Society as an In-Kind Champion Sponsor!

This summer, their team will be enhancing our dog play yards by removing potentially harmful plants and creating safer outdoor spaces where shelter dogs can run, play, and enjoy their time outside.

We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and partnership. The staff, volunteers, and—most importantly—the shelter dogs appreciate your support!
