At Kahoots, you’ll find our exclusive USA-made Kahoots products, your favorite national brands, and everything else for your animals, from backyard to barnyard. Our mission has stayed the same since day one: To serve you and your beloved animal with authentic, knowledgeable service and provide you with the highest quality products at a great value. At Kahoots, you’re more than a customer - you’re family. 🐶😸🐴🐷🦎🐠🐍🐹🐰🐣

We are closed on New Year’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We close early at 3:30pm the night before Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Equine Product Knowledge Refresher - Psyllium!

What is Psyllium? Psyllium is made from seed husks of a shrub-like herb (Plantago ovata). When mixed with water, each particle swells with a gel-like coating. It is believed that routine use of psyllium may help prevent ingested sand from building up to dangerous levels in the horse's intestinal tract.
How is psyllium administered? Usually given once a day for 5 - 7 consecutive days once a month. If a horse has not been on a monthly psyllium regimen, do a “21-day purge” where psyllium is given once a day for 21 consecutive days, wait 3 -4 weeks, then resume the “one week a month” protocol. Recommended to also give a probiotic along with psyllium.
NOTE:
Avoid overfeeding: Excessive psyllium can form tightly packed masses (bezoars) that may cause impaction.
Preventive psyllium use is most effective when combined with management practices such as feeding hay off the ground, reducing access to sandy areas, and addressing pica or mineral deficiencies.
Kahoots Psyllium is a small, compact pellet that is easily mixed into feed.
