Making this post is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but I need to do everything I can to find the right home for Moose. He was my first dog as a young adult, and this decision comes with so much heartbreak. I love him deeply and only want what is best for him.
Moose needs a very specific home where he can feel safe, secure, and loved. He would do best with:
• A female-only household
• No children
• No other pets — especially no cats or male dogs
• A calm home with space to roam and decompress
Moose struggles with anxiety and has behavioral challenges I want to be fully transparent about. He does not do well with men or children, and he needs an experienced, patient owner who understands reactive/anxious dogs and can continue giving him structure and stability.
Despite his struggles, Moose is also the biggest cuddle bug. He’s kennel trained, great in the car, slow grazes his food, sleeps wonderfully, and is incredibly loyal and protective. Once he trusts you, he bonds very deeply. To me, he’s the best dog in the world.
This is absolutely not a decision I’m making lightly. I’m doing this because I want to give him the best chance at a happy, stable life that I unfortunately can no longer provide due to my circumstances.
One additional request that means a lot to me: if Moose does end up in a new home, I would love to receive his ashes when he eventually passes someday. I know that can’t be guaranteed, but I wanted to put it out there because he will always hold a piece of my heart.
