So amazing to see blue skies to the west over the wildfire ❤️ We had drizzles yesterday and early this am, supposed to get more rain tonight and tomorrow☔️

MOST RECENT UPDATE 4/26:
Owner has been found❣️We cannot believe it-the owners lost everything in the fire but, brave “Skittles” somehow made it through. We need to remain strong and find joy in the small miracles right now amongst all the loss. And please rain🌧️

We have started to receive the “lucky ones”. This brave sweet cat made it through the fire and was rescued by No Kill Glynn County last night. It is going to take an entire community to help everyone including the animals make it through this disaster- keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers as it continues to devastate. (I didn’t add the pics of his poor burnt paw pads😢😢❤️‍🩹)

With the wildfire growing we are evacuating the horses to the island. Thank you to Forrest and Allie, Stables At Frederica! We can breathe a little easier knowing our horses are safe no matter what the wind does.

Human eyes take about 25 minutes to adjust from brightness to dark. Horses' eyes take almost twice that long at around 45 minutes to adjust. Show them some grace when they get scared or hesitant about going into a dark trailer or dark barn.
🌟Making sure your interior trailer lights are operational when loading in the dark. Horses that load easily during the day can get panicked when loading at night and injure themselves. Training sessions at night using the interior lights of your trailer can help them understand. Emergencies that happen at night may require you hauling your horse.
🌟Keep barn alley ways cleared of hazards. Kids bikes, toys, wheelbarrows, buckets, rakes and forks, shaving bags and hay bales, open stall doors, saddle racks can all pose a hazard to your horse.

There was a large fire across the street, diagonal from us but all horses, barns and property are safe. ❤️ Waynesville FD, GCFD and Forestry got it quickly under control.
