Mr. Boo Boo, affectionately known as his dad’s “stinky apple-headed boy", had the sweetest snaggled-toothed smile and was so deeply loved. Saying goodbye was incredibly hard, and like many families, his owner was also facing the financial weight that can come with end-of-life care.

Thanks to the generosity of families who have donated to Jake’s Angel Fund, we were able to help support Mr. Boo Boo’s family during an incredibly difficult time and provide a little peace and comfort as they said goodbye.

This is exactly why the Angel Fund exists—to help families focus on the bond with their pets instead of carrying the weight of everything alone. We are so grateful to every family who has contributed to this fund. Your kindness truly makes a difference and allows us to continue helping families when they need it most.

ꨄ︎ A gentle return with the same compassionate care ꨄ︎

As I return to practice after maternity leave, I am intentionally easing back into a full schedule to ensure every family continues to receive the calm, compassionate care they deserve.

For this reason, my availability and service area will be temporarily limited, with a focus on my primary 45-minute service radius outside of Brownwood, TX. Appointments in areas such as Abilene will only be available with adequate notice during this time. Thank you for your grace and understanding as I navigate this transition.

I look forward to reconnecting with my community and serving more families and their pets as I adjust back to full availability.

💜 Temporary Pause in Services 💜

Dear Heartland Home Veterinary Care families,

I want to share a personal update: I am currently on early maternity leave due to complications and will be unavailable for in-home visits until later this Winter.

Caring for families and their beloved pets during such meaningful moments is an honor, and I am deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me.

While I am away, I encourage you to reach out to either Dr. Jamie Foster with Rugged Cross Veterinary Services or Dr. Kim Lewis with Pathway Veterinary Services for in-home, end-of-life care. Dr. Foster is based out of Wichita Falls and can be reached at ruggedcrossvet.com and Dr. Lewis is near Abilene and can be reached at (325) 268-5588.

🐾 Introducing Jake’s Angel Fund 🕊️

At Heartland Home Veterinary Care, we believe that every beloved pet deserves a peaceful goodbye, surrounded by love and comfort at home. We know that sometimes, financial hardship can make that incredibly difficult.

That’s why we are honored to offer Jake’s Angel Fund. This is a special initiative made possible by the generosity of families who have walked this road before. This fund was created in memory of a sweet soul named Jake, whose family experienced the beauty and tenderness of saying goodbye to him at home. In their grief, they chose to give back - to honor Jake’s memory and help others in need.

Because of donations like theirs, we are able to offer some financial assistance to families who may not otherwise be able to afford in-home euthanasia services.

I had the pleasure of hosting a booth at this weekend's Pet Block Party, and what a wonderful time it was! A huge thank you to the Brown County Museum of History for putting together such a fantastic event and for having us. Also, thank you to my husband, Chris, for all your love, support, and help always.

We loved meeting so many amazing pet lovers and their furry friends! It was a joy to hand out stickers, dog treats, bookmarks, and bandanas to the pups and folks of Brown County. One of the most special parts of the day was our memorial board, where we honored the beloved pets who are no longer with us. Thank you to everyone who took a moment to share a memory or write about their angel pets 🐶💕🐱—it was truly touching.

It was also wonderful to see some of my favorite clients and connect with new faces. I’m looking forward to the next event and continuing to spread the word about Heartland Home Veterinary Care and the compassionate services we provide.

Welcome to Heartland Home Veterinary Care. My name is Rianne Decker Evans, though most clients know me as Dr. Decker. I am excited to share my story and introduce a new, local service for pet owners who are facing the challenging decision of euthanasia with a beloved pet.

As a veterinarian, I have been privileged to serve the Big Country and Heartland regions for over 10 years. Whether in day practice, E.R., or in my current role, my passions have always gravitated to the significance of the human-animal bond and just how impactful true, meaningful human connection can be during the challenges in life that we face.

There are very few things as difficult as saying goodbye to a cherished companion and my goals are to make the process as peaceful and as loving as possible. Through Heartland Home Veterinary Care, I am truly honored and grateful to help owners say goodbye to their furry, four-legged loved ones in the comfort of their home. I also offer after-care and cremation services for those interested. This intimate experience allows owners to simply focus on their animal through a guided appointment, minimizing many stressors for the pet, such as travel or unrequired restraint.
