John forged this tiny horseshoe out of a piece of broken tug chain for me when we first met.
I was so upset. I thought I lost it in the move, found it today!
Here John is shoeing on a red white and blue anvil, wearing a leather bomber and white tennis shoes. Check out the hillbilly Forge swing out.
I should’ve known that my life was about to become more interesting.❤️

Today was the first day that John was able to work without being dizzy or nauseous. The first time that has happened since skipping his head off the concrete several months ago. The only thing he did differently today was soaking his head in cold water in the shower for a couple of minutes. He says he will do that every day for the rest of his life.
Now all we have to do is work three weeks straight, put together a new truck, lose 10 pounds of fat (he only has one pair of fat pants) and gain 5 pounds of muscle.
Special thanks to Sophie Bush for covering complicated horses for us that John didn’t feel well enough to do. Also, thank you to Kelly Meyer who trimmed a horse for us and had the client send us the money. Super sweet gesture that we didn’t expect.

The dog is Belgian, she identifies as 100% American.
The M1 was a gift from a Korean war veteran that saw a lot of combat who recently passed away. A good man missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
God bless our Military, First Responders and the Dogs that keep them safe. They sacrifice more the most of us will ever know.
GOD BLESS AMERICA

Did two horses yesterday both needed reconstruction on all 4 feet, by the time we were done, we ran through a full 14 ounce tube of glue.
That means we have today off, not a bad thing.

Last night, April 18, we shown two lights in our upstairs window to commemorate the anniversary of the midnight ride of Paul Revere.
His horse Brown Beauty was known to be neither a puller or a racer. She simply had no quit in her.
Paul Revere was a bad A # #.

Wisconsin Equine contacted us and asked if we wanted to ruin our day off. 1676 lb Belgian with a keratoma resection that needed a hospital plate, wall reconstruction and a dorsal plate with an access port. The initial call was for a drain, didn’t have the material on the truck for a port, had to use a bolt, not our favorite.
The surgeon did a beautiful job, not carving too big a hole in the foot. The holder Christal did an excellent job and the owners were delightful.
Their shoer Isaiah drove 2 hours to come down and observe, he has 16 years of experience.
Special things to Manowske Welding of Fond du Lac for helping us source materials on short notice.

This picture popped up in memories from a few years ago. These are the horses John thinks about when he is supposed to be sleeping.
This horse had congenitally split navicular bones bilateral, sole so thin you could push a hoof pick through it. Finally got him going halfway decent for a few months and then he had a toxic reaction to the carrying agent in a wormer, went into anaphylactic shock, foundered severely and had to be euthanized. Sometimes you only win for a little while.
