Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society is one of the oldest continuously
operating no-kill Humane Societies in the country. For over one hundred
years, we have been providing shelter and care to unwanted and neglected
companion animals while working with the public to foster responsible animal
ownership through our training programs, humane education programs, and our
spay/neuter clinics.

Only 1 more week until this years Lucy Mac 5K9! We can't wait to see everyone hit the trails at Ascutney Outdoors once again. Online registration closes on September 10 at 5PM. In person registration/check-in will open at 9AM on the 12th and close at 10AM for the 1-mile course start.

Our sweet senior Lola is officially the September Staff pick, chosen by our vet technician Melinda Young! Here's what Melinda had to say about Lola:
"Lola is a lively senior that unfortunately was diagnosed with kidney disease. Despite that, she has made great improvements since coming to the shelter, even gaining back weight. Lola would be great in a quiet, peaceful home with plenty of sunspots for her to lay in."
