Labor Day Weekend Pet Safety Reminder!!

As we head into the Labor Day weekend, we encourage pet owners to take a few simple precautions to help keep their pets safe.

Keep pets cool and hydrated. Provide access to fresh water and shade, and limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day. Never leave a pet unattended in a parked vehicle.

Check your pet’s identification. Make sure their collar and ID tag are securely attached and that your contact information is current. A dog wearing a current ID tag can often be reunited with their family immediately, without needing to enter an Animal Control facility.

Verify microchip information. A microchip is an important form of identification, but it is only helpful if the registration contains current contact information. Take a moment to verify your phone number and address with the microchip company.

Be mindful of escapes. With visitors coming and going throughout the weekend, make sure doors, gates, and fencing are secure.

A few minutes of preparation can make all the difference in keeping your pet safe, healthy, and home where they belong.

A HUGE thank you to Taylor with SAH for putting together the “Dog days of summer” fundraiser!! We got so many great items for our dogs and the shelter!! We cannot thank everyone who donated enough!! Thank you for supporting our cause and the dogs in our care! They sure do appreciate it!!

What a Saturday!

We had an absolute blast at our adoption event this past Saturday! Our dogs had just as much fun as we did, and we loved getting them out into the community to meet new people.

We may not have any professional athletes on our hands. A few of our four-legged participants made it about five minutes into the 5K before deciding they had officially completed enough cardio for the day. Some turned around, while others needed a little extra assistance getting back. Cough, cough… Cricket, who had to be carried back by his volunteer walker.

A huge THANK YOU to Brooklyn Pizza Company for hosting us and helping make the day so much fun! We’re incredibly grateful for businesses that support our shelter dogs and our mission!

We can’t wait for the next one! 🐾

"Looking for my forever home. Must have snacks, a comfy couch, and preferably a pool. I’m a one-year-old German Shepherd with big feelings, bigger personality, and absolutely no interest in sharing my humans.
I may not have a forever home yet, but I do have a pool… so honestly, I’m doing pretty well for myself"

DONATIONS NEEDED!!!

Do you have extra towels or blankets? The shelter will take them off your hands! We are running low on both! Used, stained, bleached? We will take towels in any condition, our only ask is that they are clean and washed!

We are open M-F 8:30-3:30. Donations can be dropped off at any time under our awning!

We are located at 150 E SR 250, Brownstown Indiana 47220. We are in the K9 Control Center directly behind the jail/sheriff's department!
