Welcome to the Club, Milo! š¾
Milo recently joined Healthy Hounds Fitness Club for his very first Adventure Hike, and heās already proving why understanding your dogās breed, age, and individual needs matters so much.
As a 6½-year-old Wheaten Terrier, Milo still has plenty of puppy energy to burn. Terriers were bred to work, explore, and stay busy, so physical exercise alone isnāt enough, mental enrichment is just as important.
Thatās why every hike we plan is tailored to the dog in front of us.
For Milo, that means choosing trails that allow for plenty of sniffing opportunities, varied terrain, and intentional movement while still being mindful of his body as a middle-aged dog. As a recent East Coast transplant, heās also adjusting to Coloradoās elevation, drier climate, and different trail conditions, so we take those factors into account when selecting routes and pacing our adventures.
One thing we learned quickly? Milo LOVES water. š¦
So whenever possible, we use streams and shallow water crossings as natural cooling stations, giving him a chance to explore, regulate his body temperature, and have a little extra fun along the way.
No two dogs are the same. A trail thatās perfect for one dog may not be the right fit for another. Thatās why our Adventure Hikes focus on the individual dog, their age, breed, fitness level, personality, and goals, so they can stay healthy, fulfilled, and excited for the next adventure.
We canāt wait to watch Milo continue to thrive. š¶ā°ļø
