We are a 501.c.3 nonprofit volunteer organization providing assistance for needy animals in FC. We'd love to have you join us.

We are proud to be Franklin County's oldest nonprofit group working on the behalf of area animals. Our volunteers have been working together with the community since 1976 to provide a better outcome for the stray animals who make their way to our area shelter and rescues. Our building doubles as a site for THREE low-cost/high quality spay/neuter transports and for adoption events. The focus of our

organization is to reduce the number of animals born in Franklin County, to improve the outcome of those who make their way to the shelters, and to provide educational resources to the community we share. Since we receive NO county funding, fundraising and donations are how we keep our doors open. Your financial support goes 100% to support our mission since we have NO paid employees. Volunteers who have a heart for helping animals are always welcome!❤

We are grateful to so many folks for their help over the past few days.

Late Wednesday evening we got word we’d need to evacuate the animals from our building due to the possibility of historic flooding our area. By 1am we had 46 cats safely relocated to the Franklin County Indiana 4-H Fairgrounds and several homes of folks who had room to house them.

Our building was spared any damage.

This morning we were able to move back in, and we were overwhelmed by the support of our community who came to help. We didn’t get pictures of all who came, but your presence and helping hands meant so very much. The move back in was accomplished in record time.

Our kitties were so happy to be back in their home today!!

Diamond Pet Foods has blessed our community with cat and dog food to distribute to those in need. Our first distribution day is 8/16 from 11-1 in the block building at the fairgrounds. If you can’t make pickup then, reach out to us at 765-647-1444 and we can make alternate arrangements.

Volunteers from Franklin County Indiana Humane Society and Friends of Franklin County Indiana Animal Shelter will be onsite at the Franklin County Indiana 4-H Fairgrounds from 11am-1 pm on Sunday, August 16 to distribute food to those in need. More dates will be added as needed.

HUGE shoutout of thanks to Diamond Pet Foods of Rushville who donated dog and cat food to Franklin County Indiana residents affected by the historic flooding.

We’ve safely evacuated the 46 cats and kittens in our care from our building on High Street. We received word late last evening that we would need to move them all to higher ground since we are right in the projected flood area.
This was no small feat, and only was accomplished because so many jumped right in to help. ❤️ We are grateful for all who lent a hand, trucks, and trailers.
With our kitties safely relocated, the building that is usually so full of life stands empty and eerily quiet. Now we hope and pray for the best outcome possible.

📣Hey FC- let’s get those pets fixed and prevent unplanned litters…our local shelter and rescue are full and volunteers are working as hard as we can. Spay and neuter is the only solution to our pet overpopulation problem!

Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic is coming to Brookville. There are still plenty of spots open for DOG 🐶 and CAT🐱surgeries on August 25. Pickup and drop off at Grooming Girls Pet Salon.

Keep in mind, they do not require an appointment for feral and outdoor cats; therefore, you can bring up to 2 feral cats per day per person.

To schedule your cat or dog for a surgery, please call 317-922-8185 or 317-675-0072 and leave a detailed message.

You can also visit their website at www.lowcostspayneuterindiana.org to complete an online submission form to start the appointment process. When you go on the website, you have to choose the transport button and "schedule transportation;" otherwise, you will be directed to choose between the Brownsburg or Noblesville clinics. They do not transport for vaccines only; however, vaccinations can be done at the same time as a spay, neuter, or dental.

Congratulations to our sweet Itty Bit on her adoption!

Itty Bit’s journey to a furever home was not an easy one. When she was brought to us she was in rough shape. She has a condition that required the extraction of all her teeth. She likely battled this condition for years before she found her way to our rescue. We named her Itty Bit since she was so tiny-although very much an adult cat.

Itty Bit didn’t miss a beat and bounced back after surgery-her mouth fully healed-she eats like a champ. Our volunteers are so happy to see her move on to the next chapter of her life! ❤️

Do you have a neighborhood momma cat needing fixed?

If you need carriers or traps reach out to us, we can loan you some for surgery transport.
