🎃🚪 Trick-or-treaters at the door can be exciting for us, but stressful for our pets. With the doorbell ringing and people coming and going, it’s also an easy time for a pet to slip out unnoticed.

Create a safe space away from the front door with a favorite toy, puzzle feeder, or calming background noise. Before opening the door, take a quick moment to make sure your pet is safely out of the way.

And just in case they do get out, make sure their ID tags and microchip information are up to date.

🎃 Halloween night can bring extra activity, noise, and unexpected distractions around the farm. Before the trick-or-treaters arrive, take a few minutes to check that gates, fencing, and enclosures are secure and escape-proof.

If fireworks or other loud noises are common in your area, make sure your animals have a safe, secure space to retreat to if they become startled.

A little preparation can go a long way toward keeping your animals safe and sound all night!

Even indoor-only cats can leap, climb, or push against a screen when something outside catches their attention, and standard insect screens aren’t always strong enough to hold them.
