Welcome to the 'ber' months!
That's it I'm officially in a fall mood. I've seeded the first of my Plum sunflowers and I can't wait to see them bloom! Sunnies are such a classic favorite but I love these fall colored ones. They make me feel like 'I wanna wear a sweater and enjoy hot c***r while staring at these on my table' kind of way. Just me?

Progress is progress. 2 out of the 6 fifty foot rows are shaped, layered, and topped up with compost! It's not the flashier side of flower farming , but I'm trying to give myself credit for the behind the scenes hard work part that leads to the dreamy pictures filled with beautiful bouquets.
This area still needs alot of work but it's getting there. 😊

So farm hand likes sushi 🍣

What the heck does that have to do with flower farming?! Well after a few times of getting sushi to-go my little recycle reuse heart needed to find a way to actually use all the trays again. I mean come on, they even come with a clear plastic lid, it's like the perfect little green house. So this go round I used my smallest soil blocker to make 40 tiny blocks per tray and seeded celosia and amaranth. Poped the lid on and placed they on my outside light rack and bam! 3 days later, even germination and beautiful growth already. This has been the best method I've done so far for tiny seeds that need to surface sown.
So this means the more sushi he has the more seed trays I get ! Win win 😋🍣🌱

August is approaching and it always feels like go time!
This will be the third fall season for the farm but I still can't quite get into spread sheets for my crop planning. I'm such a visual person, I need it all laid out in front of me. Although I have found the combination of sticky notes and a calendar to be extremely helpful in keeping me on a seeding schedule. I'm getting all the annuals planned out now and have perennials plugs shipping in for the new expansion a little later on. It's all coming together! .... I still get crazy looks from farm hand when he walks in to everything spread out all across the bed, but hey it's getting done. 😅

Had the opportunity to make a very special arrangement for a 25th anniversary party. There were a few things still blooming in the farm rows so they were cut, arranged, driven all the way to NC, and hand delivered. Green Gates first out-of- state flower delivery! It won't become a regular thing but some occasions are just worth it.
Here's to many more years for the happy couple ! 🥂💐
