ADOPT ABRAXES AND YRENE! 🖤🤍
Hello! Our names are Abraxes and Yrene. We came to Good Home with our entire family – six kittens and our mama! – from a shelter in Long Island. Now we’re in foster care and everyday our little furr-sonalities are blossoming as we explore, learn, and PLAY!

While we each have our own distinct disposition, we are both sweet, gentle kittens who enjoy being with our humans and being part of a household. When we’re not hanging with our humans, we love each other’s company: snuggling or playing! We love to chase each other or find the best place to sprawl out (like the humans’ bed).

Yrene is the bolder sibling. I’m a silly little lady who has endless enthusiasm for playtime – chasing my toys, my brother, even my own tail! Confident and curious, I get along well with everyone, including the resident grown-up cats. And while I’m not a lap cat, I like to be near the humans; I’ll stare right into their eyes trying to figure them out. I’m such a hilarious cutie!

Abraxes needs a little more time to warm up, but once I do I’m such a cuddle buddy! When I feel comfortable I like to be near the humans and I even like to be held like a baby sometimes (so does Yrene). And while I’m a little more mild-mannered than my sister, I still like playtime! I’m really into the wand toy or chasing my sister.

We’d be happiest in a moderately active home where our humans are excited to both play with us and give us all the snuggles. Our foster humans say Yrene is good with kids and dogs, but aren’t sure if Abraxes would like living with them. More than anything, we need to be adopted together and stay together – we’re such a purr-fect pair. Ultimately, any home we go to would have no shortage of charming, infectious kitten energy. Could that home be yours?

FOSTER NEEDED! Who remembers Banana? 🍌 💛

If you scroll back, you’ll see our first post about Banana on March 31. He had been found on the sidewalk in a carrier on Vanderbilt Ave. While we’ll never know the facts, we can certainly piece together a likely history for Banana’s early life… he was probably emotionally neglected and/or teased and, given his excitability, he was almost assuredly a “singleton”— meaning he was raised alone from a young age without a playmate. The term for that behavior is Single Kitten Syndrome, characterized by excitability and poor manners… and that might just describe our mischievous and endearing little Banana.

It didn’t help matters that Banana was also found to have stomatitis—a very painful mouth condition. Thanks to our friends at Alison Animal Hospital, Banana has been receiving a novel treatment and, after a recent exam, his mouth was found to be totally clear! A huge win for him. He still needs meds for another month or so to keep the disease at bay, but he’s a good boy and takes them without issue.

Just look at these pictures tho! Our little boy has come so far. A loving foster home and stability definitely helps a cat with the healing process, but no matter how bad the circumstances, a cat’s basic personality shines through. We can tell you that Banana’s innate nature is that of an intelligent, confident, playful, and affectionate charmer.

We are grateful to Banana’s current fosters Foster Kitties in BK! and wish them all the best with their move. This does mean that Banana needs a new foster home THIS WEEK! He is not a mean or aggressive cat, but we feel he would do best with an experienced foster who knows how to gently redirect him when he gets overexcited with a patient and loving hand.

If you’d like to foster this handsome and energetic guy, please fill out a Foster Q&A on our website (link in bio)!

ADOPT PABLO & SALVADOR! 💕
Hello our names are Pablo and Salvador. We came to Good Home when a kind human rescued us from a dilapidated house. Now we’re in foster care and are realizing how great a cozy, friendly home can be!

We are mild-mannered boys who prefer quietly hanging near our human or by a window. When our foster human works from home, Pablo likes to snooze near her feet and Salvador likes to nap behind her on a shelf. We aren’t big fans of being picked up or strong pats; we prefer gentle scratches. Pablo is okay with being picked up for a little while, but Salvador does not like it at all. All this being said, we really are sweet, peaceful boys (with a silly side!) who enjoy the comfort of having a trusted human. Salvador is shy, but getting braver alongside Pablo!

We love mealtime! We purr & rub up against the human’s legs when the cat food can opens. Salvador accepts lots of love and scratches when it’s time to eat! We also enjoy playing with the wand toy – another
perk of living with nice people!

We’d be happiest in a quiet home with patient humans who respect our boundaries but also love us for the gentle, thoughtful boys we are. We have never lived with a dog, so we don’t know how we’d do, but we can live peacefully with kids who aren’t too high energy. Most importantly we must be adopted together and stay together after adoption as we find strength and comfort in each other. We are bright, observant, affectionate boys who would love a human to encourage & appreciate us. Could that be you?

ADOPT MILTON! 🤎
Hello, my name is Milton. I came to Good Home from a dilapidated house where I lived with eight other cats. Thankfully a caring human scooped me up and now I’m enjoying hanging with my feline friends in the Cat Lounge!

I’m a little shy at first and need time to warm up, but once I’m comfortable I enjoy pats, scratches, and being close to my humans. Having a cat friend really helps me come out of my shell! My brother in foster care showed me how to be braver and to enjoy playtime and treats.

Though I’m still a little cautious, I’m getting bolder everyday! And even though I’m not a lap cat, I was known to seek out cuddles with my human in foster care. I’m a sweet boy who wants to be included and is figuring out how to socialize. Though I get a little nervous around new people, I get past it when they offer me treats and toys. I love the wand toy, mouse toy, the ball track, and sometimes just running around my home!

I would be happiest in a moderately active to active home where I have gentle, patient humans to encourage me. My former foster doesn’t know how I’d do with kids but they do know I don’t like dogs. Any home I go to, I need to have a cat friend; I thrive in the company of other cats. I’d love a human who appreciates me for the sweet, smart, curious boy I am. Could that human be you?

Four years ago an FIV+ cat named Drake was rescued from a nearby colony and came to Good Home for care and placement. He was an intact male cat with multiple dings all over his body from fighting and was generally worse for the wear.

After he was with us for a while we discovered he was a very sweet and gentle little boy with a shy, slightly goofy side. We placed him in foster care, got him neutered/recovered and eventually he was adopted.

About a month ago Animal Care Centers of NYCey had him. He’d been surrendered to them in pretty rough shape, skin covered in scabs from flea dermatitis. When we picked him up from the shelter and touched his little head through the carrier, we could feel the scabs on his inflamed skin and it brought us to tears. Thank goodness for microchips and thank goodness for ACC.

Despite doing a lot of work up front to ensure good placement, we’ve learned that cats will sometimes come back to us after adoption. The cats are always welcomed back, rather than risk their remaining where they’re unwanted, neglect, or worse. We also understand that people’s lives can change dramatically and approach occasions when a cat comes back to us with professionalism and empathy.

We’ve also learned that, once in a great while, the adoption placement will turn out to be, well, “bad”. That’s not a term we throw around lightly. But in this case the adopter at least did 100% the right thing by taking Drake to the shelter.

None of this assuages the sadness, frustration, and guilt we struggle with that Drake’s placement resulted in harm to his health. Needless to say we have a lot of complicated feelings about his condition. We have been asking ourselves what we could have done differently and, moving forward, how to ensure the safety of the cats under our care.

Ultimately what matters most is that Drake is safe and in loving hands 🐉body is on the way to recovery and, as you can see, his adorable, playful demeanor remains intact. We love you Drake and are extremely happy and relieved to have a second chance to care for you.

Happy 1st Birthday Cheddar! 🎉

Goofy, affectionate, and oh-so-playful, this handsome orange boy is recovering from a bout of stomatitis. Foster pawrents Adopt Cheddar! say you’d never know he had this painful mouth condition! Cheddar is bright, energetic, just a wee bit naughty, and READY TO PARTY on his special day 🥳

Cheddar came to us a little over 2 months ago from the streets of Queens where he was rescued by Afroza Azad aka Bilaibashi. We noticed he was drooling and off to the vet he went where he received an exam, blood work, and two different medications to combat his condition. Cheddar’s care to date totals $425. Please send Cheddar a bday gift to help concerned cost of his care. Your donations and support mean the world to our cats!

Once he’s completed his treatment and been medically cleared, Cheddar will be available for adoption. Until then, you can get to know this charmer at his foster IG.

We love you Cheddar! We’re so happy you’re with us 🧡
