🐾 You must be an ACTIVE Ivy Pets client in any of our departments.
📸 Bring your pet in costume and stop by our front desk to have their picture taken!

💉 Pets must be up to date on vaccines required for grooming to receive grooming services.

❤️ A little note for our feline friends: If your cat isn’t comfortable traveling or wearing a costume, please don’t force them. Their safety and comfort come first!

Microchipping = your pet’s permanent ID 🐾

In this video, Dr. Sangiorgio is placing a microchip in a cat to help ensure they can always be identified and reunited with their owner if lost.

✔️ A microchip is NOT a GPS
✔️ It stores a unique ID number linked to your contact info
✔️ Required for most international travel (ISO compliant)
✔️ Must be placed before a rabies vaccine for travel

We often recommend microchipping during spay/neuter while pets are under sedation for comfort, but it can also be done awake if needed sooner.

💡 If you ever find a lost pet, you can bring them to any local veterinary clinic or animal shelter to be scanned for a microchip, this can help reunite them with their family quickly.

⚠️ Important: Don’t forget to REGISTER your pet’s microchip once you get home. Without registration, the chip cannot be traced back to you!

🐶✨ Everyone meet Biggie, a 22-week-old Yorkshire Terrier, who came in for his very first grooming appointment! 💚

A puppy’s first groom is one of the most important appointments they’ll ever have. It’s not just about looking adorable (although… look at that face 😍). It’s about building trust and creating positive experiences that will last a lifetime.

Here are a few things you can do at home to help prepare your puppy for future grooming appointments:

🐾 Gently play with their paws every day so they become comfortable with their feet being handled.
🪮 Brush them regularly to prevent tangles and make grooming easier.
🦷 Brush their teeth to get them used to having their face and mouth handled.
💨 Introduce them to the sound of a blow dryer and other household noises. A fun trick is to turn on an electric toothbrush near them to mimic the gentle buzzing sound of grooming clippers. Reward them with treats and praise so they build positive associations!

☀️ Could you recognize the signs of heat stroke in your pet? In this video, Dr. Sangiorgio shares important tips to help keep your furry family members safe during the summer heat.

🚨 Signs of heat stroke:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Heavy drooling
🐾 Bright red or pale gums
🐾 Weakness or difficulty walking
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea
🐾 Collapse or loss of consciousness

💙 How to help prevent heat stroke:
• Keep walks short on hot days.
• Walk during the cooler morning or evening hours.
• Check the pavement with the back of your hand. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws.
• Consider using a cooling vest to help keep your pet comfortable during outdoor activities.
• If your pet starts to overheat, use cool (not ice-cold) water on the belly, paws, armpits, and neck to help lower their body temperature.
• Do not use freezing cold water, as it can interfere with your pet’s natural cooling process.

❗Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If you suspect your pet is overheating, don’t wait. Bring them to Ivy Pets or your nearest emergency veterinary hospital immediately. Fast treatment can save their life.
