Can we talk about black cats for a minute?

They’re the last to be noticed.
The last to be photographed well.
The last to be chosen.

And yet, anyone who has ever loved a black cat knows the secret: they are unforgettable 💫🦋

Their beauty isn’t loud. It’s mesmerizing 🦄

The way their eyes seem to glow.
The way sunlight catches their fur.
The way they disappear into the shadows and then suddenly appear beside you.
The way they make every home feel a little more magical 🧙‍♀️🖤✨

And Clarice may be one of the most beautiful black cats we’ve ever fostered.

🖤 her coat is glossy and sleek
🖤 her tiny white chest spot looks like a single brushstroke of paint (she’s a masterpiece)
🖤 her golden eyes sparkle

But what we love most about Clarice isn’t how stunning she is. It’s who she’s becoming!

When Clarice first arrived, she was quiet and cautious. She wasn’t sure what to make of her new world… but every day, she’s grown a little braver.

She is beauty. She is grace. She is a tiny panther 🐈‍⬛ (or maybe a bat? 🦇 Those ears tho!)

Watching her ease into the comfy life has been one of those special foster experiences that reminds us why we do this.

🐾 MEET LUCILLE! 🐾

Three-year-old Lucille is a sweet, playful, chirpy girl with the gentlest little soul. In her foster’s words, she’s “the type of cat who would allow a butterfly to land on her nose.” 🥹

Lucille loves her cat dancer, watching the world from the window, and being brushed (a good thing, because this beautiful medium-haired lady needs regular grooming!). She’s athletic and energetic without being mischievous, and she’s perfectly happy peacefully coexisting with her humans rather than demanding constant attention.

Lucille would thrive in a calm, loving home with someone who will give her gentle attention, playtime and the chance to really blossom. She seems fearful of other cats, so she’d likely be happiest as your one-and-only feline. Older, cat-savvy kids could be a good fit, and possibly a very gentle dog.

And apparently she has markings that make her look like “a little cartoon cat,” which, frankly, is reason enough to adopt her. 😻

We first posted beautifully W***y back in June but she is still with us! Help us spread the word about this sweet girl!

W***y is likely about 6 years old, but we don’t know anything about her history! She is partially blind after needing to have her eye removed due to effects of glaucoma but it does not get her down. In fact it just makes her adorably clumsy as she’s exploring! She is such a sweet cuddly cat and super curious! She loves spending time around people and is very happy to keep you company on the couch 🖤 W***y has hyperthyroidism which involves twice a day medication, but she’s so easy going and good about taking it.

W***y can be a solo cat or an addition to your cat household, but it’s unclear if she likes dogs! If you want to give this great cat a much deserved fresh start, submit an application at the link in bio to adopt her 💕

🚨 TRULY SCRUMPTIOUS NEEDS A HOME! 🚨

This sweet 4-year-old gray darling was adopted from us as a kitten in 2022. A year later, his adopter left him with her ex. At some point after that, the ex moved somewhere that didn’t allow pets & passed him along to his elderly mother. When HER landlord said NO CATS, she set out with a terrified Truly shoved in a granny cart, trying to figure out where he could go. 😩

Thankfully, she passed by Beastie Bestie in Crown Heights & asked Bronwen of Good Home where she could bring the cat to be surrendered. Instead of immediately sending her to ACC, Bronwen did one very important thing… she scanned him for a microchip…

She called the microchip company and… ✨ BEEP. BEEP. WHISKERS-A-GOGO CAT. ✨Instead of going to the ACC, Truly Scrumptious was coming back to us. Bronwen called us & generously kept him safe for a few days until we could pick him up, have him checked over & bring him to a foster. 🙏🏼

Truly is gorgeous, cuddly, affectionate, playful & independent. He plays fetch with mouse toys, loves sleeping in bed with people & will even reach out to put his paws on your hands & hold them while you cuddle. 🥹

After being passed around for years, this boy deserves a person who *means* FOREVER when they say it.

Baffi was born in May under a disabled car to a mother who soon vanished. Tragically, his siblings became casualties of the dangers kittens face outside. Baffi is the lucky survivor, and he’s hoping you’ll bring him his next stroke of good fortune by inviting him into your home!

Bold, lively, affectionate Baffi is on the go most of the time... but when he’s tuckered out, you can find him in the dog bed, cuddling a cat friend, or curled up on a lap. Meet Chai 🐾

Chai was born around May 1 and rescued from ACC when he was just a 4-week-old baby weighing about one pound. Although he has grown, he still weighs just under three pounds—much smaller than the average kitten his age!

He isn’t a dwarf kitten; he’s simply an exceptionally tiny, perfectly proportioned little guy. And what he lacks in size, he makes up for with a HUGE personality.

The staff at Bushwick Bark on Knickerbocker have officially declared Chai “the president of the itty-bitty kitty committee.” He loves battling crinkle balls, wrestling with his kitten friends, and investigating absolutely everything that catches his attention.

When he finally takes a break from causing adorable mayhem, Chai suckles on his favorite blanket while making biscuits 🥹 He’s equal parts energetic adventurer and teeny-tiny baby.

The staff describe him best as “a chaos goblin considered cute to normal people”—and honestly, we couldn’t agree more 😂

Chai is extremely nosy, completely incapable of minding his own business, and determined to be the star of every show. He needs a forever home ready to let him live the main-character life he knows he deserves!

Meet 3 month old tortie supermodel kitten Twist! I mean look at those amber eyes! 🧡

Twist is a curious, confident and cuddly girl who wants to be involved in everything! She is a brave explorer and expert cuddler who head butts for pets, nips you with love and will sleep on a pillow next to you 😻 She may even gently nip you when you’ve been asleep too long! 😹 She is an all around amazing kitten who needs a cat friend to play with in addition to a human. Her favorites toys are catnip kickers and toy mice, but when she’s not playing she loves her time in her window hammock looking out at the world 🐦‍⬛
