The kennels at TAS are full of dogs waiting for someone to choose them.

Every adopted dog goes home with:

🐾 Age-appropriate vaccinations
🐾 Spay or neuter surgery
🐾 A microchip
🐾 A FREE one-year City of Tulsa pet license

The fee is waived. The commitment is for life. If you’re ready to welcome a dog into your family, please go in person, meet a few dogs, and ask staff about a good match for your home.

Reunited and it feels so good 🥰
Pets get lost, it just happens. How would your pet get home? The nonprofit, Tag OK believes the combination of a microchip and a pet ID tag will help more pets get home faster. We are so glad this special dog finally got to go home.

🦟🦟💔💔Please share Lab Rescue post! Heartworm prevention is every month, on time and year round in the Midwest ❤️

🦟 COOLER WEATHER DOESN’T MEAN HEARTWORM PREVENTION CAN STOP! 🦟

As the weather starts to cool down, you may be thinking, “Do I really need to keep giving heartworm prevention?”

YES! ❤️

Mosquitoes can remain active whenever temperatures are above about 50°F, and here in Oklahoma, we can have mosquitoes hanging around well into the cooler months. They can even find their way inside our homes!

That means our dogs can still be exposed to the mosquitoes that spread heartworm disease — even when it doesn’t feel like “mosquito season” anymore.

❤️ Heartworm prevention needs to be given year-round. ❤️

One missed dose can leave your dog unprotected, and heartworm disease is serious, expensive to treat, and preventable.

So as you pull out the sweaters and prepare for cooler weather, don’t forget the heartworm prevention! 🐾

🐾🦮 Happy National Guide Dog Week! 🦮🐾

Today we’re celebrating the incredible dogs who help their people navigate the world with greater independence, confidence, and safety. These dogs aren’t just amazing….they’re working! ❤️

A few DOs & DON’Ts around service and guide dogs:

✅ DO admire them from a distance.
✅ DO give their handler plenty of space.
✅ DO ask before interacting with a working dog.
✅ DO teach children that working dogs have a job to do.
✅ DO appreciate the incredible training and dedication behind these teams.

🚫 DON’T pet, call to, whistle at, or distract a working dog.
🚫 DON’T offer treats or food.
🚫 DON’T let your dog approach or interact with a working dog.
🚫 DON’T assume a dog isn’t working just because they’re sitting quietly.
🚫 DON’T be offended if a handler doesn’t stop to chat.

Sometimes the best way to show these amazing dogs respect is simply to let them work. 💙

Thank you to all the guide and service dogs and the people who train, raise, support, and work alongside them for everything you do. 🐾
