One of the hardest parts of being a dog groomer is getting the message we never want to receive.

“Please cancel their appointment we had to let them go.”

People see us as their groomers, but after caring for the same dogs month after month and year after year, they become so much more than an appointment on our books.

We learn their personalities. We know which ones need a little extra patience, which ones give the best kisses, which ones dramatically hate their nails done, and which ones walk through the door like they own the place. We watch puppies grow up, we watch faces turn gray, and sometimes we help senior babies through their grooms when their bodies just don’t work like they used to.

And we love them through every stage.

So when we receive that text saying they’ve crossed the Rainbow Bridge, it hurts. Sometimes more than people probably realize. And this year alone, I’ve already gotten several of those texts about my senior dogs passing. It never gets easier.

There are dogs we’ve groomed for years that we will never forget. Their names stay with us. Their faces stay with us. And when we look at our schedule and realize their name won’t ever be on it again, there’s a little piece of our routine and our hearts missing.

To the owners who have trusted us with their babies throughout their lives: thank you. Thank you for allowing us to love them, care for them, laugh at their quirks, comfort them when they were nervous, and make them feel their best.

And when that heartbreaking day comes, please know that you aren’t the only one who misses them.

They may have only spent a few hours at a time with us, but some of them leave paw prints on our hearts for a lifetime.

A little update 💕💕💕As many of you know, we’re a small family-owned business, and family has always been at the heart of everything we do.

Starting the second week of August, our shop will begin opening at 9:00 AM instead of our current opening time. This small change allows Mariah to experience one of life’s biggest milestones,taking her little one to his very first year of school. These moments only happen once, and we’re so thankful for your understanding as we adjust our mornings to make them possible.

We also want to thank each and every one of you for your patience. We receive tons of calls, texts, Facebook messages, and booking requests every single day, and while we do our best to respond as quickly as possible, we’re also trying to make time for our families outside of work. If it takes us a little longer to get back to you, please know we’re not ignoring you we’re simply doing our best to balance serving our amazing clients while being present for the people we love most.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every referral, every kind review, every recommendation, and every dog you’ve trusted us with. Southern Touch Grooming has grown far beyond what we ever imagined, and none of it would have been possible without this incredible community supporting us.

We’re truly blessed, and we can’t wait to continue caring for your pups for many years to come

We are officially down to VERY limited spots left for April, so if you’re needing in, now is the time to book!

We do have a few more openings available for small dogs, but those are filling quickly as well.
