🐾 Puppies Available for Adoption! 🐾

We are looking for loving forever homes for 6 adorable puppies! These sweet babies are approximately 8–9 weeks old and are ready to start their next adventure with a family of their own.

While we don’t know their exact breed, we believe they will grow to be medium-sized dogs.

Before applying, please remember that puppies are a big commitment. They require time, patience, training, socialization, and lots of love. They are energetic, curious, and can be quite a handful, but the rewards of raising a puppy are well worth it!

If you’re ready to welcome a new furry family member into your home, please fill out an adoption application on our website:

Please share to help these puppies find their perfect homes! ❤️

This is one of the hardest stories we've shared.

Earlier this year, two dogs came into our care: Strudel and her brother, Muffin. They were found as "strays," but it didn't take long to realize they weren't lost at all. They had been neglected and starved by the people who were supposed to care for them.

They arrived shortly after Sprout, and despite how full our hearts and resources already were, we knew we had to say yes. They deserved a chance.

Muffin fought so hard. He was sweet, gentle, and grateful for every bit of kindness he received. For a brief moment, he got to experience warmth, comfort, and love. But the damage done to his body was simply too severe. We lost him on the way to the emergency hospital, and our hearts broke that day.

The photo we've included of Muffin(the last photo) isn't from his suffering. It's from one of his peaceful moments — when he finally knew he was safe and cared for.

And then there's Strudel.

Strudel survived.

She survived the hunger. She survived the neglect. She survived losing her brother. And every day since, she has quietly shown us just how resilient she is.

For the past several months, Strudel has been thriving in foster care, learning things many dogs take for granted. She's learned that couches are for cozy naps, that people can be gentle, and that home can be a safe place. Beneath her timid exterior is an incredibly sweet, sensitive soul who wants nothing more than to love and be loved.

Because of her past, Strudel can be nervous with new people and unfamiliar situations. She would do best in a patient, adult-only home where she can continue building confidence at her own pace. A calm, friendly dog companion could be a wonderful match and help show her that the world isn't such a scary place.

She's house-trained, sleeps peacefully in her crate, and has made remarkable progress. All she needs now is someone willing to give her the time, understanding, and love she deserves.

We promised both Muffin and Strudel that their stories wouldn't end the way they began.

We couldn't save Muffin.

But we can make sure Strudel gets the happy ending he never had.

Please help us find this brave girl the forever home she's been waiting for. ❤️

🐾✨ APCSM Alumni Spotlight: Sugar Cathrine ✨🐾

Who says hippos belong in the wild? Sometimes they belong right on Nana’s couch. 💛

Meet Sugar Cathrine, a 2½-year-old rescue pittie (or as we like to call them… a house hippo 🦛💕) who was adopted in July 2025 and has completely stolen her family’s hearts.

This sweet, wiggly girl has become Nana’s constant companion, bringing laughter, comfort, joy, and unconditional love into her life every single day. Whether they’re relaxing at home, running errands, or simply enjoying each other’s company, Sugar and Nana are rarely far apart.

Watching their bond grow has been a beautiful reminder of just how life-changing rescue can be. Sugar isn’t just a dog — she’s a best friend, a source of comfort, a daily dose of happiness, and proof that pitties are some of the most loving, loyal companions you’ll ever meet.

With her goofy personality, endless wiggles, and heart of gold, Sugar Cathrine has shown everyone around her exactly why we adore these misunderstood “house hippos.” 🦛❤️

🐾 Want to see Sugar Cathrine featured in the 2027 APCSM Life is Precious Calendar? Cast your votes and help this lovable house hippo climb the leaderboard!

✨ New haircut, who dis? ✨

James Brown is looking quite handsome after his fresh grooming appointment — and we almost didn’t recognize him ourselves! 🤭

Now that he’s feeling his best, we’re hoping his forever family will finally notice him.

This sweet, goofy boy has been waiting at the shelter since NOVEMBER, and we can’t believe he’s still here. James Brown is a staff and volunteer favorite who greets everyone with a wagging tail and a happy smile whenever he comes out of his kennel. He loves spending time in the play yard, especially with other dogs, and we think he’d do well with a canine companion in his future home.

James Brown has so much love, personality, and joy to share. A fresh haircut is nice, but what James Brown really needs is a place to call home. 💕

If you’d like to learn more about James Brown and his quirky self, reach out to us or stop by during our open hours to meet him!

🐰💕 ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Rudy (aka Little Roo, aka Mr. Roo!) 💕🐰

If there were an award for “Most Likely to Steal Your Heart With One Hop,” Rudy would win by a landslide. 🏆

This handsome 10-pound bunny came to his family through APCSM in 2022, and what started as a bunny meet-and-greet quickly turned into a forever love story. ❤️

Rudy didn’t have the easiest start in life. When he first arrived, he was frightened and unsure of people. But with patience, kindness, and lots of love, he slowly learned something wonderful: he was finally safe.

Today, Rudy is a sweet, gentle boy who reminds us exactly what adoption is all about. Watching him grow from a scared bunny into a beloved family member has been an incredible journey. 🥹

Rudy is currently competing in our 2027 APCSM Calendar Contest and would love your support! Every vote helps animals like Rudy receive the second chance they deserve.

🐾 APCSM Alumni Calendar Contest Spotlight: Babybel the Hamster 🐾

Our APCSM calendars are usually filled with dogs and cats... but Babybel is proving that great things come in very small packages! ❤️ 🐹

At just 11 months old, Babybel has already stolen her mom Cassady's heart. When she first came home from APCSM, she was shy and defensive, but with patience, love, and trust, she blossomed into the sweetest little companion. These days, she loves climbing into Cassady's hand for cuddle time and enjoying her favorite snack—cucumbers! 🥒

The best part? Right now Babybel is only 20 votes away from the top 13!

Only the Top 13 pets will be featured in the 2027 APCSM Life is Precious Calendar, so every vote counts as the competition heats up.

Think Baybel deserves a spot?! Cast your vote! 🗳️

🐾 A Special Calendar Contest Story 🐾

For the past 14 years, Dalton has been a familiar face in our APCSM Calendar Contest.

🍼 Bottle Baby Foster Homes Needed! 🐾

We are in urgent need of dedicated Bottle Baby Foster Volunteers to care for orphaned kittens who have lost their mother or require around-the-clock feeding and support. These tiny kittens depend entirely on their caregivers for nourishment, warmth, and survival during their first weeks of life.

Bottle baby fostering is a rewarding experience, but it is also a significant commitment. Kittens must be fed every few hours, including overnight, depending on their age. (See the feeding schedule below for guidance on feeding frequency.)

As a bottle baby foster, you will provide these vulnerable kittens with the love, care, and attention they need to grow strong and healthy until they are old enough for adoption.

If you are interested in becoming a bottle baby foster—whether you have experience or are willing to learn—we would love to hear from you! Please fill out a foster application on our website and help give these tiny lives a chance to thrive. ❤️🐱
