The last ride of the season was not the grand finale I had hoped for, we finished 6th in the 25 mile LD. I gave myself the poor sportsmanship award of the weekend and we will leave it at that, lol. Postive things: made new friends, saw old friends, got my favorite pizza, and came home with a healthy horse.

Had a nice 8 mile ride today. Explored "new to us" trails. The riders and horses did great manuvering through the technical rocks and trail system.

I tried my first 50 mile endurance ride about 1 month ago, we got pulled at the 25 mile mark for being lame.I learned a few things and decided to try the moonlight 50 this weekend. Not only did we complete the race but we finished 3rd place and finished only 31 minutes behind the winner. We could have been a contender to win but our goal was to not be lame and finish before midnight (which we accomplished both!) We raced alongside people running 100 miles, other horses racing 100 miles, and at times riding alone in the mountains with only our headlamp and glowsticks to mark our path. It was quite the experience. I have to thank Meghan Foster for being my crew / personal barista and Geneva Soule for getting Meghan to my holds. We also participated in runner/rider team with Justin Scheid as my runner, and we won our division! Great weekend overall!
