We spent the weekend at the Tulsa state Fair for the Tulsa state fair Cattledog trial. Glory to God for a fun weekend with my wife and son, and for keeping us safe. I ran Dolly in open, and AC Eden in the open and nursery. I had a good weekend with Dolly and ended up reserve champion open Cattledog. I felt like I as a handler lost this one. Dolly worked good and I made a few mistakes in both of Dollys runs. I was late to flank Dolly going to the number 2 obstacle in this video of today’s run and it cost us around 20 seconds, which is how much time we lost the average by. Eden worked great although she had some young dog mistakes and a horrible draw in nursery today.

Congratulations to Abigayle Mahurin on winning the open this weekend! You and your dogs were sharp as always!!

Big thank you to my sponsor Nutrena Feed for the fantastic support you show my dogs and I!

This is where I like to see outside dogs around 30 days. Being mindful of their stock, reading their stock, and listening. This dog really wanted to be forward and blow into his stock at first. He’s about ready to get out of the training pen, and into the open field.

Well we took AC Eden to her second trial this weekend. Her and I didn’t get the results we were hoping for. She did have some good experience and good improvement! But this made my weekend. A while back I had a trialing clinic and this young lady Huntlee came with her dad Robert Dougless. At the trialing clinic I let Huntlee work Annie and Annie worked really good for her. So I told her that if I was ever at the same trial as them, that she could run Annie whenever she wanted. As some may know, I recently sold Annie. And so this weekend I put 17 month old Eden to the test and let Huntlee run her in the youth. It took a moment for Huntlee to make a believer out of Eden. But she eventually started working for her and listened pretty good for being so young and for nobody but me ever working her before. This is what it’s all about folks. God is good!

Last weekend we made the hour and 20 minute drive each way for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, to attend the 7K stockdog trial, hosted by Mark Knott. Although it was very hot we had fun. This was AC Edens first trip to town. And I was happy with the first two days. She was able to place third in nursery and pro novice sheep on day one, and second in nursery cattle on day two. Day three did not go well. We were all exhausted by that day. My hat is off to the very hard work that Mark put on along with everyone who helped him. Thank you so much!!

Also a big thank you to Nutrena Feed for keeping Eden feeling her best after working in the terrible heat.

If Jace could speak, I think I would hear “how can I be of assistance” a lot… 😂

I sure am excited about this young dogs future. He’s sure maturing into a smart, talented, handy, and handsome dog.
