Carly has been in the shelter more than a year!! 😔 Unfortunately she doesn’t show well in her kennel and needs time to get to know someone before she warms up. Thank you to those who donated Adopt Me treats! Carly got some!

She’s the longest resident at the Washington County, TN Animal Shelter. Here’s what her temporary foster shared about her:

Carly is a 2 year and 4 month old puppy who we think is a Catahoula (DNA test results come back in a month).

We had the joy of fostering Carly for a short while to give her a break from shelter life. We learned that she is a wonderful and amazing dog!

Carly is quite the athlete, able to jump onto beds and into our Suburban easily. She loves her 3 minute zoomies complete with bunny hops and gazelle-like leaps, then settles quickly for a snooze.

She rides contentedly in our car, on the way to a walk in the woods where she is always on the prowl for squirrels (hold leash tightly at this point).

However we think she'd much rather go for a 5 mile run or an all-day hike.

We're working on house-training - Carly is wicked smart and intensely wants to please, so even if we aren't entirely successful, her adopter will be in short order.

While Carly craves attention, she is not constantly needy. We took her to Rocks for margaritas and nachos (yummy, hint hint) and she was an angel.

She was intrigued with other people, what we were eating (yes, she got a few bites of chicken and queso), but laid down or stood calmly and quietly the whole time.

Carly is content to lay in the shade to chew on a bone, or just lay at our feet while working on the computer.

To summarize, Carly wants nothing more than to curl up with her person for a nap after exploring, swimming, hiking or just walking and sniffing. At 45 pounds and full grown she's nearly perfect!
