Welcome! We are KJWolfandC**ns a family loving Maine C**n cattery in Southeast Iowa. KJandtheC**ns is a small intimate cattery located in Southeast Iowa.

We are family orientated and love our fur-babies, they live in our home with us and get spoiled daily.

🌼🐾 FROM ONE GENERATION TO THE NEXT... INTRODUCING GOLDIE! ❤️

Some of our most treasured Maine C**ns are the ones we've had the privilege of watching grow up right here in our own home! 🥰

Marigold, affectionately known as Goldie, is one of those special girls! ❤️

This beautiful red silver Maine C**n queen is the daughter of our foundation pair, Nina and Sunny. If you caught yesterday's throwback featuring Sunny, you're now getting to see one of his beautiful daughters! 🐾

Goldie has since become a mama herself, welcoming two wonderful litters of kittens and continuing the family line that helped shape KJWOLFANDC***S. 🥰

You may also recognize her from our recent post showing off those fabulous polydactyl paws! Between her extra toes, beautiful coloring, and fluffy coat, she's certainly a girl who knows how to capture attention! 😍🐾

Behind the beautiful cats and adorable kittens are countless hours of hard work, learning, health testing, and dedication. But most importantly, there's a family who truly loves what they do. ❤️

❤️🐾 THERE'S JUST SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT THE LOVE BETWEEN A BOY AND HIS CAT! 🥹❤️

Sometimes the sweetest moments are the ones you don't plan. 🥰

The way she's looking up at him, with those big beautiful eyes, is enough to melt our hearts! 🥹❤️

These are the moments we absolutely LOVE about raising Maine C**ns in our home. They're not just beautiful cats with big fluffy tails and impressive personalities. They're part of our family, growing up right alongside our children, sharing snuggles, making memories, and forming bonds that are truly priceless. 🐾❤️

And while we love watching our kittens grow, there's something even more special about watching the relationships they build with the people around them. ❤️

Because at the end of the day, it's not just about raising Maine C**ns. It's about raising family members. 🥰🐾

🎉👑 CHAPTER 29 HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN! 👑🎉

Well, today is my 29th birthday, and let's just say it's certainly been one for the books! 🤣❤️

I started my morning being crowned the Birthday Princess by a wonderful group of friends! 👑💕 And honestly, I should have known that was just the beginning of the day's adventures! 😂

Because apparently, my sweet William decided that Mommy needed a birthday surprise she would NEVER forget! 🎁🤣

Yesterday, we took William to his primary doctor for an appointment to address a few different concerns. None of which had anything to do with his ears!

He hadn't complained about his ears, hadn't shown any signs of discomfort, and with his tubes, we fully expected his routine ear check to be perfectly uneventful!

Well... NOPE! 🤣

While checking his ears, the doctor spotted something GREEN in his right ear! 👀🟢

And not just green... something that appeared to be WIGGLING! 😳😂

Well, that certainly wasn't on our bingo card! 🤣

Fast forward to today, my BIRTHDAY, and off to the ENT we went to solve the mystery!

Of course, when the ENT questioned William about what might be in his ear, my sweet three-year-old informed the doctor that he had put BOOGERS in there! 🤦‍♀️🤣

Well, I suppose boogers CAN be green, so at least his explanation matched the color! 😂

But the REAL answer?!

A GREEN BEAD! 🟢🤣

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, my sweet little boy apparently decided his ear was the perfect storage compartment for a bead! 🤦‍♀️😂

And here we thought we were dealing with boogers! 🤣

So while some moms get flowers, chocolates, or a relaxing spa day for their birthdays, I got a trip to the ENT and a tiny green souvenir! 🤣❤️

Motherhood really does keep you humble, doesn't it?! 😂

And while this isn't exactly how I pictured spending part of my 29th birthday, I wouldn't trade this crazy, beautiful, unpredictable life for anything! ❤️

Between raising our kiddos, caring for our Maine C**ns, running our family businesses, and all the adventures life throws our way, there's certainly never a dull moment around here! 🐾🥰

Here's to 29 years of life, love, laughter, lessons, and whatever unexpected adventures God has planned for this next chapter! 🙏❤️

And William... buddy... next year, Mommy would REALLY prefer a homemade birthday card! 🤣🎂

🐾❤️ EXTRA TOES, EXTRA CUTENESS! LET'S TALK POLYDACTYL MAINE C***S! ❤️🐾

Have you ever looked at a Maine C**n's paws and thought, "Wait a minute... how many toes does that cat have?!" 🤣🐾

If so, you may have met a polydactyl Maine C**n!

Here at KJWOLFANDC***S, we have several beautiful girls sporting those adorable extra toes, including Sapphire, Goldie, Belle, and Esme! ❤️🐾

And while they all share the polydactyl trait, their paws don't necessarily look exactly alike! That's part of what makes this trait so interesting. 🥰

But what exactly does polydactyl mean, and why do some Maine C**ns have extra toes while others don't?

Let's talk about it!

🐾 WHAT IS POLYDACTYLY?

Polydactyly is a naturally occurring genetic trait that causes a cat to be born with more toes than usual.

Most cats have 18 toes altogether: five on each front paw and four on each back paw.

Polydactyl cats have additional toes on one or more paws!

And here's something interesting... not all polydactyl paws look alike!

Some cats have extra toes that make their paws look like little mittens, while others have extra toes arranged alongside their regular ones.

🐾 DOES IT AFFECT HOW THEY WALK OR PLAY?

Most polydactyl cats with uncomplicated extra toes walk, run, jump, climb, and play just like other cats!

Those extra toes certainly don't stop them from getting into mischief around here. 🤣

🐾 DO THEIR EXTRA TOES NEED SPECIAL CARE?

Sometimes!

Depending on how the extra toes are positioned, certain nails may not wear down as easily. That's why checking all their nails and keeping up with trimming is important.

We always recommend getting familiar with your cat's paws so no sneaky little toenail gets overlooked!

🐾 WILL POLYDACTYL PARENTS HAVE POLYDACTYL KITTENS?

Polydactyly is an inherited trait, and a polydactyl parent can pass it along to their kittens.

But that doesn't mean every kitten in a litter will have extra toes!

Mother Nature still likes to keep us guessing. 🥰

🐾 ARE POLYDACTYL MAINE C***S BIGGER?

Extra toes don't automatically mean a bigger cat!

Maine C**ns are already known for their impressive size and large paws, and polydactyly simply adds a little something extra to those feet.

Here at KJWOLFANDC***S, we love our traditional-pawed Maine C**ns just as much as our extra-toed ones. Every cat brings something special to our family! ❤️

🐾❤️ WHAT ARE WE UP TO THIS SATURDAY? ❤️🐾

We're starting something a little different here at KJWOLFANDC***S! 🥰

While our Maine C**ns are a huge part of our everyday lives, there's also a family behind all those beautiful whiskers and fluffy paws!

Today, we're stepping away from our usual cattery updates to share a little family time! We're cheering on my brother as he participates in his senior year marching band state competition! 🎶💙🥁

As a family-owned and operated cattery, we believe in cherishing these moments, supporting one another, and making memories along the way. ❤️
