Mosquitoes are back β€” and that means heartworm season is officially here in northern Utah.

Heartworm is a serious (and completely preventable) disease spread through mosquito bites. One bite from an infected mosquito is all it takes to start a problem that can take months to show up and is expensive and hard on your pet to treat.
Here's what you need to know:

🐾 Dogs are natural hosts β€” worms can grow up to 12 inches long and live in the heart and lungs
🐱 Cats can get it too, and often show no symptoms until it's a crisis

Prevention is simple β€” a monthly chewable pill, or an injection that lasts a whole year!

The best time to start? Before you see a single mosquito. By the time they're out in force, your pet should already be protected.

If your pet is new to heartworm prevention we do require starting with a simple, 10 minute blood test to check for existing heartworms, if your pet is negative we will give you the go ahead to start prevention!

Give us a call at 435-734-9831 to schedule your heartworm test today and start prevention as soon as possible!

Spring is here! And that means it's the perfect time for your pet's wellness exam.

We know vet visits aren't exactly your pet's favorite activity. But a spring wellness exam is one of the best things you can do for them heading into the busiest outdoor season of the year.

Here's what we're checking:
🐾 Overall health: weight, teeth, coat, eyes, ears, and joints
🐾 Vaccines: making sure everything is current heading into summer
🐾 Heartworm testing and getting prevention started if needed
🐾 Parasite prevention: fleas, ticks, and yes, those mosquitoes
🐾 Any concerns that came up over winter: new lumps, changes in behavior, appetite shifts

Winter has a way of masking things. Pets slow down, we spend less time outside, and small changes can sneak up on us. Spring exams are a great reset.

If it's been more than a year since your pet's last visit, now's the time. Give us a call at 435-734-9831 and let's get them ready for a happy, healthy summer. β˜€οΈπŸΆπŸ±

Mosquitoes are back, and they brought a problem with them.

We know, nobody's happy about mosquito season. But here's something worth knowing: mosquitoes aren't just annoying, they're actually the way heartworm gets transmitted to your dog or cat.

Here's how it works:
βœ… A mosquito bites an infected animal
βœ… It picks up heartworm larvae
βœ… It bites your pet
βœ… Those larvae make their way to your pet's heart and lungs

The scary part? There are no symptoms in the early stages. By the time you notice something is wrong, the damage is already done and treatment is lengthy, expensive, and hard on your pet.

The good news: heartworm is almost entirely preventable with a simple monthly medication.

If your pet isn't currently on prevention, or if you're not sure, give us a call at 435-734-9831
Spring is the perfect time to get started.

Already on prevention? You're doing great. Keep it up year-round!

It's been a journey since September, but today we got to see it all come together!
Thanks to an incredible $15,000 raised by this community, and donors from across the country, Azula and Elvis, the K9s of the Box Elder Sheriff's Department, are now suited up in their custom bulletproof vests!
To everyone who donated, shared, or cheered us on: thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Our law enforcement, two-legged and four-legged alike, deserve every bit of protection we can give them.

Rattlesnake season is real, it's here, and it's something every Utah pet owner needs to think about.

As temperatures warm up, rattlesnakes become more active and are showing up in yards, trails, and open spaces across the valley. Dogs especially are curious by nature, which puts their nose right at snake level.

Here's what to know:
βœ… Rattlesnakes in Utah typically become active when temps consistently hit 60Β°F+, which is right now
βœ… Bites most often happen on the face, nose, or front legs
βœ… Even a non-fatal bite can mean thousands of dollars in emergency treatment and a very scary 24-48 hours
βœ… The rattlesnake vaccine can reduce the severity of a bite and buy you critical time to get to the vet

If your dog spends any time outdoors: hikes, dog parks, even your backyard, it's worth a conversation.

Give us a call at 435-734-9831 to find out if the rattlesnake vaccine is right for your pup.
