🏆 The Libby Bartnick Award for Pegasus Horse of the Year!

We are proud to announce that Jackpot has been named the 2026 Pegasus Horse of the Year! 🎉

Since joining our herd four years ago, Jackpot has become an important part of our therapeutic horsemanship and riding programs, as well as one of our favorite “spokeshorses” at events.

Known for his steady presence and ability to connect with those around him, Jackpot has taught us that less is more and that clear, intentional communication is the key to success. Through overcoming challenges of his own, he continues to demonstrate resilience and determination while helping participants work toward those same goals.

Join us as we celebrate an exciting new chapter at Pegasus Therapeutic Riding!

On Monday, June 22, we will officially cut the ribbon on our new Round Pen, a dedicated space that will support our veteran and first responder programs, trauma-informed services, corporate leadership and teambuilding programs, and other ground-based equine-assisted activities.

This new addition will help us expand opportunities for participants to build confidence, strengthen connections, and experience the unique benefits of working alongside horses in a safe and supportive environment.

We look forward to celebrating this milestone with our supporters, community partners, and friends who help make our mission possible.

We have an announcement to share that Pegasus therapy horse Hondo will be transitioning from his work in our therapeutic programs to a well deserved retirement. Hondo has had a tremendous impact on his participants throughout the years, and we are truly grateful for all he has done in our therapeutic programs. His sensitive and honest nature allowed him to truly excel in this work, teaching people how to build trust and listen closely. While it’s never easy to say goodbye, we are excited for him to begin this next chapter where he can have a more relaxed lifestyle with lots of equine friends, and enjoy time just being a horse. Thank you Hondo, for all you have given us. We will miss you!

After 23 years of dedicated service, we wish Diane all the best as she begins a new chapter in Virginia.

Over the years, Diane has worn many hats at Pegasus: volunteer, instructor, facilitator, equine caregiver, and volunteer coordinator. She has touched countless lives through her compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment to our mission. Her impact can be seen in the participants she taught, the volunteers she mentored, the horses she cared for, and the friendships she built along the way.
