I offer private and semiprivate Scentwork lessons.

The benefit of private/semiprivate lessons is the teaching is catered more to you and your dog. More time is dedicated in each lesson to your dog(s) so more ‘bang for your buck.’

We focus on a strong foundation which enables dogs and handlers to seamlessly advance into higher levels. I also help teams that are currently training in Scentwork but are struggling in certain areas.

Scentwork is a great sport for puppies and older dogs as it doesn’t require the dogs to run/jump like in other scenting sports.

Do to some upcoming traveling and the busy time of the year for most people, we will be offering BARN HUNT lessons starting after the New Year.

Lessons are PRIVATE or SEMI-PRIVATE and taught at our facility in Brevard, NC. Lessons will need to be paid in advanced to hold your date and time.

Who’s ready for Barn Hunt lessons?

I’m known for putting a solid foundation on dogs just learning so that as they progress they don’t run into many of the road blocks that some run into with learning in the ‘traditional’ way.

Prefer teaching private or semi-private lessons. One on one/two dogs per lesson promotes flexibility in teaching the dog that is in front of me verses just giving the basics.

Two weeks ago Quill and I ventured to her first Scentwork trial in I can’t tell you how long it’s been for her! And even worse, I can’t even tell you the last time I trained Quill! She’s been busy with mommy duties for the last year and now that she is ‘retired’ from breeding she can get back to the activities that she enjoys! So on a whim I entered her and she did not disappoint!

Pending AKC Quill has added two new titles to her repertoire…
Scentwork Interior Advanced (SIA)
and
Scentwork Exterior Advanced (SEA)

Hopefully Quill and I can catch up with our training and trialing in the upcoming year!

•Have you and your dog been training agility?

•Are you running sequences of 11-15 obstacles?

•Is your dog proficient at jumps and contacts but might not be ‘solid’ on weaves yet?

•You want to see what your dog might do in a different setting than where you practice?

•Is your dog 15 months or older?

If your answer is yes to any of these questions, you and your dog might be eligible to do AKC’s Agility Course Test program! This is a virtual program that allows dogs to earn an agility title (as long as they do NOT have an AKC agility title).

If you are interested in potentially earning the ACT titles, DM me for more information!

Edit to add: This is NOT agility lessons! Dogs need to be already running sequences and proficient with contacts. This is an opportunity to do the ACT virtually. NO instructions will be given!

When you neglected your arena all summer because you had a litter of puppies, you have to torch the dry grass before you can run your ring conditioner on it!

Gearing up with a few students who talked me into doing ACTs (Agility Course Test). I’ve been wanting to finish up doing them with Quill, so am looking forward to getting Quill back into the swing of things now that she’s done being a mom. Time to get busy finishing up earning those titles!

We so enjoy doing competitions and training our own dogs as well as other owners and their dogs. Reach out to us if you are interested in doing competitive dog sports, we’d love to help you reach your goals!
