Happy Vet Tech Appreciation Week to our absolute rockstar, Renee! Thank you for your years of dedicated service and for always bringing the perfect mix of top-tier care, animal compassion, and unstoppable energy to the clinic. From handling chaotic moments with total grace to giving the absolute best chin scratches to our patients, you make the veterinary world a much brighter place. We honestly don't know what we—or the animals—would do without you, so thank you for being the ultimate pet superhero every single day! 🐾

Our friend Sweetie came in to see us at Riversong today! She wanted to share some amazing facts about orange felines:

🧡 Orange cats are about 80% male. That means Sweetie is rare!
🧡 Orange cats are always in a tabby pattern, there are no completely orange cats!
🧡 Orange cat hair color is due to pheomelanin - the same pigmentation that creates red hair in humans!
🧡 Aging orange cats can get harmless freckles on their noses, lips and gums! This is called lentigo.
🧡 Orange cats do in fact NOT share one brain cell. All cats have an estimated neuron count of over 760 million across their entire brain!

These are just a few amazing things about orange kitties - wishing you a great weekend from Sweetie and all of us here at Riversong.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has confirmed multiple rabies cases in baby goats at a mobile petting zoo located in Iredell County. Several goats at Farm Adventures have tested positive for rabies by the North Carolina State Laboratory of Public Health and may have been in direct contact with people at events while infectious.
