Today was the annual county pre-fair day for many of the youth showing cattle to get their veterinary needs taken care of before showtime. We always enjoy coming out to help the kids and it’s fun to see their excitement as Brazoria County Fair is drawing near. Dr. Goerdel and Dr. Rosborough have an extra soft spot for those kids who have taken on the extra difficult task of raising beef, as they both showed cattle as kids.

Pictured at work are Teresa (FVMC Practice Manager), Dr. Rita (4th year TTU CVM Student) and Dr. Goerdel. Special shout out to Brazoswood FFA, Jake Brannan, Bonner Jenkins, and countless others that made this event possible.

If you get a chance, go see the kids’ projects at the fair this year and give those young men and women some support!

Dr’s Goerdel & Rosborough were getting their continuing education learning on this weekend at the SouthWest Veterinary Symposium in beautiful San Antonio riverwalk district.
Dr Goerdel enjoyed the ophthalmology, surgery and neonatal resuscitation lectures.
Dr Rosborough completed the final phase of two years of training and is now 1 of 500 Certified Recover Veterinary CPR Instructors worldwide.
We’re excited to bring all this knowledge back to our teams and community!

An important reminder for our community. Unfortunately, there is no definitive test for rabies infection before death (for people, nor animals). In addition, there is no known effective treatment for rabies. It’s very important to keep your pets including dogs, cats and other pets such as ferrets current on their rabies vaccination. However, many may not realize, horses and livestock such as cattle and sheep/goats are also at risk and ideally would be vaccinated routinely as well.

Rabies in many species including livestock, can present in many different ways that look similar to other illnesses. Often times unfortunately exposing unsuspecting owners prior to calling their veterinarian.

Rabies is 100% preventable - do your part and vaccinate.

Urgency in rabies prevention: Prompt treatment crucial after exposure as waiting for symptoms can be fatal, warns Dr. Suhani Bhakta.

Please take a moment to remember those lost 25 years ago today in the twin towers, in the planes, and in the pentagon. May God continue to protect and bless America!

🔥 South Texas Heat Alert! 🔥

South Texas is turning up the heat! Please take extra precautions to keep your pets safe during this heat wave. Limit outdoor activity to the early morning or evening, provide plenty of fresh water and shade, and never leave pets unattended in a vehicle—even for a few minutes.
Hot pavement can burn sensitive paw pads, and heatstroke can happen quickly. If your pet shows excessive panting, weakness, vomiting, confusion, or collapse, seek veterinary care immediately. Stay cool and stay safe, friends! 🐾💧☀️

Unfortunately, all too often it is very severe and life threatening in this weather… so please help us keep your pets cool, shaded, hydrated and safe.
One thing that we do know for sure, is that our feral community cat spay and neuter team is on FIRE!!!🔥
We've completed 16 surgeries to date. 💙💙🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷.

Us Peaches are so very proud of Camryn! A familiar face ya’ll might have seen around the clinic in years past. If we could have chained her here we would have 🙃🤣, but we knew her true calling and couldn’t be more proud of all that she has accomplished! She is an intelligent, loyal, hardworking, dependable, team-oriented employee and an asset to the BCSO.

Congratulations to the newest member of our Criminal Investigations Unit, Investigator Camryn Emfinger 🎉

Investigator Emfinger has been with the Sheriff's Office for just over two years and is already making us proud through demonstrated ambition, dedication, and proficiency for the law enforcement profession.

Welcome to CIU!
