When we moved from NH to VT in August, I experienced a bout of deep sadness, missing the pups in my OG pack. I wondered if I would ever love a pack of dogs like I loved that crew. After all, those were the dogs who changed my life, walking me through a career transition and making me into a small-business owner, a pack walker, a dog trainer!

Starting from scratch here in VT has been a practice in patience. I am grateful every day that this work connects me with new dogs, trails, and warm-hearted folks who love their animals. And yet, I still catch myself longing for the easy strolls and familiar wags of a well-established pack. I still need reminding, things worth having take time–in dog training and beyond.

Last Thursday, I took this pack of 4, my new regulars 🧡, out for a hike, and it felt…lovely, joyful, dare I say, easy? These pups have been building friendships while learning the Dog Camp ropes. I caught a glimmer and took this picture so I would remember: Trust. Stay true. Good things ahead. Good things ahead…!

BIG MOVES!

My partner and I have been patiently working away on the dream of buying our own home and moving back to southern VT, a place where we feel called to put down roots. This once distant glimmer is, to our astonishment, becoming a reality, and we will make our move on August 1. I will start a new pack walking & dog training business in that area. We will remain Wild Pasture Pack–but this is the VT chapter!

I am holding deep love and gratitude in my heart for the dogs in my pack and for my clients, and I have shed more than a couple of tears at the thought of saying goodbye. It’s hard for me to succinctly express all that this glorious adventure has meant to me over the past 2 years ✨

But this parting is so much sweeter because Leanne & Morgan Hurd of will be taking the lead with my beloved pack members so they can continue to seek the joy of being alive at Dog Camp! Leanne & Morgan have been working as a team, hiking dogs for over 6 years! Leanne and I also graduated from the same training program 🤓 It has been beautiful to share a network with them and, most recently, to watch them train and form relationships with the dogs in my crew while they’ve shadowed me at Camp over the past month 💞

My heart is so full as I look out over the past two years and so hopeful as I hold a vision for the future. May this next chapter be filled with love, connection, community, nature, peace, and lots of contented tail wags for Wild Pasture Pack & Wolf Hill!

Today was Baxxy Boo’s last day at Camp for the foreseeable, as he and his pawrents are moving 😭

This sweet, sensitive boy was one of my OG campers nearly two years ago. Having grown up during COVID, he was anxious and uncertain around other dogs when we first started training together. It has been beautiful to see him blossom into an enthusiastic hiker and swim champion who is happy to hang with his trusted furriends. I am honored to have been a part of his journey!

Rowe has officially graduated from Pack Prep 🥹 And don’t Bisou & Maisy look like proud elders, cheering her on??

Today she completed her first trial day at Dog Camp and had a blast learning the ropes with the big kids.

Shout out to Rowe’s pawrents for putting in the puppy training work to earn off-leash freedom. Here’s to many great adventures ahead 🎉
