Ellie , Our Program Director , wears soooo many important hats !
But one of the things Ellie does ( that we feel is so extremely important ) is therapy with animals at Senior Living Centers , Hospices and Memory Care Centers.
Many of these seniors sold their homes to move to these centers and some had to rehome animals to due so . Some haven’t had animals since they were younger . But what this program does .. is it provides therapy to those who are missing their pets or just love animals , it lifts spirits for the entire afternoon , it brings back memories and stories that they will talk about long after the animals leave , it creates community by these seniors realizing that their friends like animals too and brings about a conversation they may never have had before and it also allows the animals that visit to get extra attention and learn about new equipment like wheel chairs , walkers etc .
Whispering Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Center had a lovely visit with Mayo and Relish 🐈⬛♥️🐈⬛♥️
We are extremely grateful to Ellie for all of the important roles she plays at the shelter but we are especially thankful for her thoughtfulness by ensuring seniors all across the shoreline get their animal fix too 🤗
