Help For Pets will be partnering with the Maryland Food Bank Mobile Market on Wednesday May 20 from 12pm until 1pm at the Nanjemoy Community Center. We will have free dog food, cat food, livestock feed and information about the services we have available for our community.

We will have two yard sale fundraisers on Saturday May 9. The first is at the Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department from 9am until noon. There will be a bake sale, vendor fair and food for sale. See you there!!

There will be lots of great crafters and vendors, the Charles County Garden Club Plant Sale, food, entertainment and fun! We trapped 39 cats for TNR in the last 8 days. This just underscores the great need for spay/neuter in our community and we sincerely appreciate the community support of our TNR program in the past. You have made it possible for us to spay and neuter hundreds of cats every year, preventing many thousands of kittens from being born outdoors and ending up in overcrowded shelters. Unfortunately our TNR program is no longer financially sustainable at this level without grant funding. We are an all volunteer organization without paid staff and grant writing support. The most recent grant we considered had 26 pages of instructions and was more difficult than our volunteers were able to complete. And we really tried. Unfortunately this means we are no longer able to accept new requests for TNR. We will do our best with limited funds to finish the groups of cats we have already started. There are organizations in our community with TNR grant funding through the Maryland Department of Agriculture and we urge anyone needing TNR to apply to them. A link is in the comments. Thank you for your continued support and donations as we still have many cats on our waiting list. And we can always use newspapers to line our traps!
