Show Update!
This past weekend was a blast at Hampton Roads Kennel Club's last show of 2025. Whoever got the word out did a fantastic job - we had over 200 confirmations for each of the 5 shows, with Saturday's reaching over 250! Weight pull had an impressive 40+ entries, with day-of registration available. I've been attending this club since 2017, and it's amazing to see how far they've come.
First up, my weight pullers Kino and Nova. Both weighed in at 48 lbs, putting them in the same weight class and division, having both earned their UKC Grand Champion Weight Pull titles. We didn't get much practice in beforehand, but they still did great. They were neck and neck for the most in the score sheets, out of a class of 9 dogs.
Nova crushed it, completing all 5 pulls with one max pull, securing 1st place, a couple of 2nd and 4th places, and 120 points towards her Elite weight pull title. As she's no longer able to show, this was her only task.
I'm super proud of Kino for killing it at 10 years old. Given his age, I only had him pull 3 out of the 5 pulls. No max pulls, but he earned 60 points towards... well, let's just say he's got almost all the UKC weight pull titles! His 3rd and 4th placements are nothing to sneeze at, and he even took home a Most Weight Pulled Veteran award.
Bruce Wayne was the real star this time around, earning 95 points towards his UKC Weight Pull Champion Excellent title. Despite not practicing much, he gave it his all, and it paid off. He even earned his first Total Dog award - not once, but twice! Finishing his Confirmation Champion title on Sunday under Judge Diane Price was the icing on the cake. I'm beyond proud of this working boy for proving he can do it all with style π
