Well⦠here we are again. ā¤ļøš¾
Weāve been pretty quiet the last few weeks, and honestly, we needed some time to reset. September took a lot out of our team, emotionally, physically, and financially.
Last month, we headed into our rescue mission planning to bring 45ā55 dogs to safety. Thanks to all of you, we met our fundraising goal with just $20 to spare! But as things often go in rescue, absolutely NOTHING went according to plan.
Neither of our transport vans was mechanically ready, which meant scrambling to secure safe replacement vehicles at an additional cost of nearly $2,000.
And that mission for 45ā55 dogs? Well, 72 precious souls found their way into the arms of rescue. ā¤ļø
We couldnāt leave them behind.
Unfortunately, making that happen meant dipping right back into the funds we had worked so hard to raise for our vans.
After taking a hard look at our finances, our volunteersā personal commitments, and everything we have going on in October, we made the decision to send just one van on this monthās mission.
But the need has quickly grown beyond what we anticipated. And with no November transport planned, this weekend is our opportunity to get as many dogs to safety as possible before we take a much-needed break.
So, hereās where things stand.
š Our white van is FINALLY ready! Our incredible friends at Schulte Subaru have completed more than $14,000 in mechanical work to get her back on the road. Theyāve generously donated over $8,000 of that work, leaving us with approximately $6,000 to raise before we can bring her home.
š¾ We need another $3,500 by the end of this week to make Octoberās rescue mission happen and get nearly 70 dogs to safety.
Thatās $9,500 in immediate needs.
And weāre realistic enough to know that raising $9,500 in just a few days is probably a pretty tall order. We also know we canāt keep asking our supporters to pull off financial miracles every month.
So weāre going to tackle this one piece at a time.
Our immediate priority is raising $3,500 to get this weekendās dogs to safety.
Once weāve accomplished that, weāll turn our attention to fundraising for the van during our November transport break.
We have rescue commitments lined up. We have transporters ready to hit the road. We have partner rescues preparing to welcome these dogs.
We just need the funds to make it happen.
And thatās the part that weighs on us the most. Because while $3,500 is a lot of money to raise in a few short days, the alternative is knowing that nearly 70 dogs who have a chance at a different life may not get that opportunity.
Just $50 sponsors the freedom ride for one dog. Thatās one dog who gets to leave their past behind and begin an entirely new chapter.
We know weāve asked a lot of you lately. We know everyone has their own challenges, and we never take your generosity for granted. But we also know what this incredible community can accomplish when we come together.
So here we are, asking for your help once again.
